  1. Institution: UC Irvine Program: PhD Economics Decision: Admit Funding: Full Support 5 years Notification date: 2/4/2015 Notified through: email Posted on GC: Yes Comments: Can finally breathe. I got email 3 minutes after Santa Barbara denied my application.
  2. I applied to about 12, still waiting on any decisions. Clemson was one of them but it was my second to last one, so I don't think they've had a chance to review it yet. Suspense is killer though.
  3. Been lurking these forums for a while, and finally took the GRE yesterday and worked up the courage to post. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: UC Riverside, BA in Economics Undergrad GPA: 3.89 Econ, 3.92 Overall Type of Grad: None Grad GPA: None GRE: 166Q 156V, havent gotten AW yet but I've scored consistent 5s on all the practice ones I took during a class Math Courses: Calculus I (A), II (in progress), linear algebra(in progress), planning on optimization, differential equations, and upper-div linear algebra Stat Courses: Stats I (A+), Econometrics (in progress), Forecasting (second part of econometrics class) Stock Market also had a heavy stats element (A-) Econ Courses (undergrad-level): Micro(A+) and Macro(A+). Labor (A) Econ History (Bleh, A) Stock Market (A-) International Trade(A) and Finance (B+). Planning on taking a Game Theory class Econ Courses (grad-level): Letters of Recommendation: 2 Econ professors, one whom is also my UG thesis mentor and really good in her field. 1 Business professor who worked with me on my UG Research Research Experience: UG Thesis, other than that, really little chance for RA positions at my institution. Teaching Experience: Teaching a UG class in Honors (non econ related) this quarter, Supplemental Instructor in Econ upcoming quarter Research Interests: International Macro, Political Economy, Recessions SOP: Haven't done one yet Concerns: Math background, GREs, aiming too high/too low, quality of UG degree Other: Grades have gone in an upward trend. I'm a transfer student, naturalized citizen, had a break in my education. Had a lot of hardships that I needed to overcome to get to this point (family, immigration, etc...). Applying to: UT Austin, Vanderbilt, U Pittsburgh, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, Clemson, Clark These are in order of preference. My main question is with my credentials a) Do I have any chances applying to the schools I'm applying to? b) Should I aim higher/lower? Any shot at a top 15? Thanks for reading! These forums are fantastic. Also, the bold face wouldn't go away =/
