"Over the past two years, the number of shoppers in Central Plaza has been steadily decreasing while the popularity of skateboarding has increased dramatically. Many Central Plaza store owners believe that the decrease in their business is due to the number of skateboard users in the plaza. There has also been a dramatic increase in the amount of litter and vandalism throughout the plaza. Thus, we recommend that the city prohibit skateboarding in Central Plaza. If skateboarding is prohibited here, we predict that business in Central Plaza will return to its previously high levels." Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation is likely to have the predicted result. Answer: According to the letter from the Central Store owner we come to know that skateboarding has lead to decrement in the business of the store. But there are some flaws or conclusion which is drawn from baseless relation with the reasons given. As asserted that over past two years number of shopkeepers in the Central Plaza have steadily decreased because of popularity of skateboarding has increased. There is no relation between the skateboarding and between shopkeepers may be due to the bad service or not good products present in the Central Plaza may have lead to decrease in shopkeeper and looking at the free space in the plaza the skateboarders may have used the place for their skateboarding. Litter at a particular area is due to not presence of cleanliness and not due to some other reasons. Similarly it is possible that due to absence of cleaning staff and the bins there may be litter all around the Plaza which have lead to vandalism between shopkeepers and even the owners .Due to the presence of these skateboarders the may have been pointed for doing the particular thing which they are not responsible. Prohibition is not a solution to every problem. Prohibition sometimes leads to increase of that particular event and lead them to criminal activities as they were prohibited. Rather than prohibiting the skateboarders from skating in the Plaza the owner should see all other aspects due to which there is a decrement in number of shopkeepers. It may be due to another Plaza in the vicinity which may have succeeded recently. There may be some other problems like there may be old products presents without any marketing strategy present to attract the shopkeeper. This may have led to Plaza’s business rather than skateboarding which is a sport which cannot be prohibited. So in the end ,we can come to some conclusions that Central Plaza’s business is not doing well due to some more reasons than the skateboarding popularity have been increased. There are many flaws or holes due to which we cannot say that the skateboarders have the main reason for Central Plaza’s loss in business.
