Hey guys,
I am an undergrad at a state university in the southeast (ECON dept ranked 50-80), and I honestly have no idea where I can apply to.
Profile:
Major: B.B.A. in Analytics (Math and Econ minors)
uGPA: 3.7 (very bad freshman year at local college followed by near flawless transcript at state uni)
Relevant Honors: President's and Dean's List, Recipient of Department Scholarships, Captain of Invite-only Consulting Class (worked with a real company on a real project and I now intern there)
GRE: 160 V, 166 Q, 4.5 AW
Math Courses: Calc II-III (A, A-), Linear Algebra I-II (A, now), Differential Equations (A), Math Stats I-II (A-, A-), Real Analysis (now)
Econ Courses: Intermediate Macro-Micro (A, A), Undergrad Econometrics (A), Ph.D. Econometrics I-II (A, now), Ph.D. Micro (A-, now)
Other Courses: Law, Policy, and Regulation (A; in the business school but heavy economics focus), Theory of Risk (B; basically a portion of micro), Contracts and Risk (A; good for Law and Economics programs maybe?), Intro to Analytics (A+; Stata modeling class with varying topics), Department Senior Class: (A; worked with real company doing A LOT of modeling in R)
Letters of Recommendation: 1 awesome one from a Harvard PhD who has taught at Wharton and Johns Hopkins and also worked in the Obama administration. 1 very good one from a Brown PhD who is the Director of our Phd Program. 1 good one from a Florida J.D./Ph.D. who is the chair of my department in the business school.
Research Experience: 1 summer, and I am trying to get more. Obvious weak part in my profile.
Teaching Experience: None
Research Interests: Econometrics, Law and Economics, Applied Micro, Business Economics, Political Economy
SOP: Should be very good. 1st generation in college, found my passion, from a poor family, yadayada that kinda stuff. I've been told it's good.
Other Stuff: R, Stata, SAS, my internship consists of a ton of economics modeling. I have worked 20+ hours every semester.
Applying to: You guys help me! Please!
Thank you all for any help and/or guidance that you provide me,
