Hi Everyone,
This might be a bit too weird but I am Biology major, who always been interested in Econ and want to go for PhD in Economics, and my family is really supportive of my decision. Actually my dad offered to pay for all my educational costs including tuition, which it is nice. Now, I finished all Calc, 1,2,3,4; deferential equations, Liner Algebra, and advanced prob theory. In terms of Econ, I haven't finished much to be honest. Micro, Macro, intermediate Micro, and Intermediate Macro, and Econometrics. That's pretty much about it. I have one semester of Econ research experience too, as I helped my professor with her research, collecting Data and all that. Now that I am think of applying to schools, and staying away from top 10, my focus will be on top 11-40 (wide range I know). I feel like other students have a comparative advantage on me, everyone else fished a lot more Econ classes, like Mirco theory for instance. I mean I am not planning on go for M.A in Econ, I want to start my PhD right away. What should I do in this case? Apply for top 45-60 school then transfer to top 40? And if I get accepted in top 40 should I go for it, or will I be in a disadvantage?
