  1. Hi All, Thank you in advance for reviewing my profile. I'm feeling rather nervous approaching this application cycle. Test Scores (GMAT/GRE): VR: 159 (82), QR: 150 (40), AW: 5 (93) Undegrad GPA: 4.0, Summa Cum Laude, Class Marshal (highest GPA with most academic credits in the college), Bachelor of Fine Arts from larger Master's granting institution Graduate GPA: 4.0 with Honors, Master of Education from larger Master's granting institution Research Experience: 3 research projects in graduate school; 2 as lead investigator and 1 as the co-investigator which led to 3 poster presentations at 3 conferences. Also have presented 10 conference sessions (regional, state, & national). Submitting one to an academic journal. Teaching Experience: Only co-curricular, leadership development programs for college students. Experience in curriculum development, syllabus planning, assessment, etc. Lots of facilitation experience in small and large groups. Work Experience: 6 years in higher education and non-profit industry up to Director level. Operations/HR management, large-scale program management, supervision, assessment, etc. Involvement/leadership in national professional associations. Concentration Applying to: Organizational Behavior/Management and Education Number of programs planned to applyto: OB (13) and Education (10 as of now) Dream Schools: Top 50 programs in Chicago, Boston, DC, San Francisco, UK Other Application Materials: Academic Referees: Dean from the Ed school & Full Professor/Advisor on two of the three research projects. Additional references include 2 VP level supervisors. What made you want to pursue a PhD? After completing a Master's I realized I really love research. I'm driven by the fundamental inequities of society specifically related to identity and positions of power. I've spent the last six years empowering underrepresented students and women to pursue positions of power and influence. Based on the current research and my own lived experience, many barriers due to the cross-sectional ties of their identities as well as bias on the other side hinder those from actually being elected/selected for said positions. For research, I am interested in investigating the motivations and/or barriers of those pursuing positions of power. Additionally, I'm interested in exploring perceptions of leader's efficacy from both an eastern and western perspective based on their identity. Ultimately I would like to serve as a professor to focus on full-time on research (or as much as one can). Questions or concerns you have about your profile? Am I doomed with these GRE scores? Side note, why am I being tested on Geometry and Algebra again? I could retake it but I really would rather not. If my supporting materials and references are really strong will I be given the time of day?
