  1. After so many years of lurking, it seems only fair to finally fill this out. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: Top-50-ish private school Undergrad GPA: 3.85 Type of Grad: NA Grad GPA: NA GRE: 167Q/165R/5.5W Math Courses: Three semesters of calculus (A,A,A) linear algebra (A), ODE (A-), Intro to Proofs (A), Real Analysis (A), Graph Theory (A), plus many statistics classes (all A) Econ Courses: Principles of Micro/Macro (A, A), Intermediate Micro/Macro (A,A), Financial Econ (A), Law and Econ (A), Int' Trade (A), Game Theory (A), Labor (A), Econometrics (A), Proseminar (A) Other Courses: Letters of Recommendation: Three economists I RA'ed for. Research Experience: Two years as a full-time RA in macro Teaching Experience: Some tutoring in undergrad, not much. Research Interests: Macro SOP: Other: RESULTS: Acceptances: Penn ($$), Columbia ($$), UCLA ($$) Waitlists: None Rejections: Harvard, HBS, MIT, Stanford, Chicago, Booth, Princeton, Berkeley, Michigan, Northwestern, Yale Pending: Attending: Penn Comments: What would you have done differently? All things considered, I'm happy with how it shook out. I had a steep hole to climb out of, having not attended a prestigious undergrad with a well-known econ program. I would definitely recommend others in my situation to also take on a full-time RA position, as I'm certain I wouldn't have placed as well without it. How accurate were others' predictions of your range of admissions? My letter writers were surprised that I didn't place better, but I'm very happy with the outcome.
  2. https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-humanities-schools/economics-rankings Looks like USNWR has updated their rankings for the first time since 2013. While no ranking system is perfect, and USNWR certainly has its flaws, they do seem to form the jumping-off point from which most people base their internal rankings. As such, this update may warrant a discussion here, particularly considering the infrequency with which these are released. What do you all think? Personally I'm surprised to see a six-way tie at #1, to start.
  3. +2 also a full-time RA who got wrecked (relative to expectation). I suppose it was a free-lunch all along.
  4. There is a Booth Econ rejection on GC. Can anyone confirm another response?
  5. I also got an acceptance from Columbia this morning, an informal email with no info on funding. Has anyone heard anything about funding?
  6. Has anyone received a rejection from Brown / do we anticipate there will be a second round?
  7. Anyone else still waiting for their first acceptance, as the implicit (and explicit) rejections pile up? Starting to enter into panic mode...
  8. I see we've got another Princeton post. Any confirmation?
  9. Until we see more posts, I am going to assume all results in isolation are spam.
  10. Can anyone confirm Brown has sent out rejections?
  11. Are results coming out earlier than usual this year for all schools? I know Chicago and Brown are earlier this year than ever (according to GC), but are other schools also ahead of time?
  12. I can confirm that they hurt my feelings.
  13. I see a Brown response on GradCafe. Can anyone else confirm that they heard from them?
  14. Has anyone actually received a rejection?
  15. Did you read somewhere that Chicago sent out offers?
  16. Might as well get the ball rolling here. Institution: London School of Economics Program: MSc. Econometrics & Mathematical Economics Decision: Accepted Funding: Nope. Notification date: 01/17/2017 Notified via phone, snail mail, or email: Email Comments: Good start to the season!
  17. Does anyone have a guess when we might hear about LSE's EME and/or economics MSc programs?
