  1. I have one offer with a decision deadline of april 15, and I'm waitlisted at a different program which has a decision deadline of may 15. Do any of you know of any programs that have a decision deadline after april 15? I am curious because if this is the only program with a deadline after april 15, then I can expect their admitted students to probably make a decision by april 15... but if there are multiple programs with a deadline after april 15 then maybe they wont decide before then.
  2. But do you think they would perceive a 90th percentile quant score in the gmat as equal to a 90th percentile gre score? That is my question because my experience indicates that the gmat percentile is so much lower than the gre percentile, and I'm wondering why they wouldn't adjust for that.
  3. How much higher do you think someone's GRE quant percentile would be compared to their GMAT quant percentile, assuming they studied the same amount for both? I took the GRE two years ago without any studying and got a 78th percentile in quant. Then one year ago I decided I would take the GMAT to apply for phd programs, and I studied for the GMAT for 7 months, focusing mainly on quant, and I got a quant score of 65th percentile. I then studied quant for another month, took it again, and got 65th percentile again. So I assume that if I had studied for the GRE for 8 months then I would have gotten around the 90th percentile instead of 78th. This means the GRE percentile is 25 percentage points higher than the equivalent GMAT percentile (90 vs 65). But I asked a professor at Michigan state if they use a conversion formula to compare GMAT and GRE quant scores, and he said no... they just take the higher score, meaning I should report my GRE score instead of GMAT score. This seems bizarre to me since I studied for 8 months for the GMAT and not at all for the GRE. Do most schools use a conversion formula to compare the two scores?
  4. "I don't understand what you mean by "any waitlisted candidates who received offers" need to make a decision until April 15th as well." So I meant that all of the waitlisted candidates that received "other" offers would have needed to make decisions before April 15. Meaning offers from schools other than the one they are waitlisted at. But my main question is, if many people do wait until April 15 to make a decision, then is there a lot of offers given in late April and May? And do programs still interview in May since they may not have previously interviewed the candidates on the wait list?
  5. So I am confused about one thing. Most schools allow applicants to wait until April 15 to accept or decline offers. So if applicants do wait until April 15 and then decline, there must be a lot of waitlisted people that will get offers after April 15, right? And how long will those applicants have to make a decision... through May? The confusing part is... any waitlisted applicant would have also needed to accept other offers before April 15, if they had received any. So the only wait listed applicants that would be available to accept an offer after April 15 are the ones that didn't receive any offers in the first place... The problem for me is, I have received one offer and must make a decision before April 15. But I am waitlisted at a couple of better programs and I want to see if I get offers from them, but it's likely that the candidates that received offers from those other schools won't make a decision until April 15...
  6. It seems like the research productivity rankings are not an accurate predictor of how hard a program is to get accepted at in many cases. I use Texas A&M rankings because I'm an OB applicant. And university of Iowa is ranked 24, but it seems like that program is much easier to get into than other schools that have lower rankings like UC Berkeley (ranked 33), Yale (66), or Purdue (28). What else determines how competitive a program is besides research ranking? And how can we predict how competitive a program is?
  7. Congratulations to those of you with offers! I still haven't seen any news of interviews for OB from arizona state, univ of Southern California, Purdue, univ of Michigan, or Georgia tech. There aren't any interviews or rejections on gradcafe for these schools. Has anyone heard from these programs or know of someone who has? I would appreciate a post or message if you have. I got an offer last week but I want to see what happens with these other programs.
  8. I got one email for an interview at 9 pm on a Saturday night. And I got an offer from a different program at 8 pm on a Friday night. But most of the emails will be during the week
  9. I've interviewed with five programs so far, and each time has been with professors that I did not mention in my SoP. I mentioned 2-3 professors in each SoP but I haven't interviewed with any of them. I think each program has designated professors that interview all candidates, so they normally don't have you interview with a professor just because it's the one you want to work with.
  10. Has anyone heard of any interviews or news from these OB programs: USC, Arizona state, Purdue, or Georgia tech? I haven't seen anything on gradcafe for these OB programs.
