  1. Your GPA is not too stellar. But if your grades in math/econ classes were mostly A's then perhaps could target top 30. If you have choppy grades in math/econ classes as well then best span out to top 50. In both cases, assuming your GRE quant is near perfect or perfect.
  2. OP ignore this comment. You certainly have a shot if you improve your GRE, get great letters and if possible hav some RA experience with a working paper out. Best wishes.
  3. Still disagree. What methodology places monash ahead of minnesota and duke? As has been argued earlier, many don't even have repec accounts. An obvious flaw in the method.
  4. Dont know about UCSB, but UNC has Ghysels, Peter Hansen. You've probably been in touch with Jonothan Hill, who's super nice. Also, remember stat departments in the RTP are all top 20.

Have an MA in International Econ from a reputed US university, another math-heavy MS in Econ from home country and BS in Finance and Econ from home country (both relatively unknown in USA). Near-perfect GRE quant and two years RA experience in a prestigious US institution. Didnt realize I was overestimating myself when I applied. Still I feel lucky given that I know many international students with similar RA experience not managing to hit any top 30-35 ranked school. I guess the european master's or phd-level micro courses would have helped.
  6. Anybody here going to UNC open day this friday?
