  1. I think the main error was not getting the first questions right hence put me on the easier track. would advise you to get as many correct as you can even if it means you have to dedicate extra time. There was the usual combination: number properties, perm, rates, geography etc Im disappointed but still hopeful
  2. good luck - we seem to be in the same boat!! However the fact that you performed well in Kaplan shows you have the potential. My only advice is to take some time off to relax and when you return focus on the verbal. i think you have the potential so you should give it one more shot.
  3. Hi All, Just did the test again and Im completely confused. Ended up with a 550 which is the worst I have ever received in any gmat test.:hmm: Did the test 2 months ago and gained a 650 but wanted to improve on that. Got 610 in GMatPrep1 and 650 in GMAT Prep 2. Redid GMAT Prep 2 and got a 720 but with repeats hence I was expecting between 650 and 700 so to say its a surprise is an understatement. Wanted to improve score to break 700 to be more competitive for top schools but doesnt seem to have worked. Felt the quant was pretty tough and not my best however verbal was exceptionally good and did not feel I made many mistakes. Is the verbal score conditional on your performance in quants? Im saying this because I did GMATprep once and only got 5 mistakes in verbal yet scaled score was only 42 hence i get the feeling its limited if you dont break 40 in Q. All thoughts are welcomg
  4. I think you would be a very strong candidate after all business schools are going for younger candidates so anything more than two years should be considered. Witha good GPA and strong essays you should definitely be a competitive candidate.
  5. You seem to have a great profile so good luck. I do know that its relatively easy to get onto the LSE PhD after doing a Masters there and they tend to fund those who impress them as well (e.g. Merit or above in the MSc) Good luck.
  6. Hey pm me and i could give u more detailed info. Im also from the uk and going into investment banking. The BA wont hurt u too bad so long as u have a first and do maths options. Top unis ARE accessible but u would have to do the GRE/GMAT to make u competitive as well. It may be the deciding factor between u being a maybe and a definite yes. I had a friend who did Econs@Man and he echoed simliar sentiments to u. A first or 2.1 should be fine. If u are really keen on ib - you dont have to do an econs Msc -a variant ot joint degree from a top uni should be fine. If you want to do it for its own sake then obviously the First is more desirable. Remember, unis see your transcript of grades hence they will know if u get a strong 2.1 or weak 2,1 etc.
  7. LMAO -U certainly different to most grad students [clap]
  8. hey congrats !! Columbia is a great institution.
  9. Lol I like you ego !! Im definitely excited about going but I have an internship right now and its stressful cause its very long hours! Where you going grad school and what u doing? Ps - Engineers arent that bad!!
  10. @inter - ~Some people are jerks. Both men AND women. Some guys cannot handle a powerful/intelligent woman. YOu just have to get used to it. If you are in that situation leave to a better one where you are appreciated for the skills you have and not put down just because of your gender. Keep fighting it but dont get upset by it - its part of life and getting emotional will only make the other side win. Being successful and acheiving your dreams is the only way to triumph.
  11. Yep same as you Im planning to get into investment banking. There's a couple of guys on here already actually. However,Im about to start an internship soon so hopefully it all goes well!

    Tennis!!!

Nadal vs Federer !! starts hyperventilating! Im gonna go for Federer but its going to be close.
  14. Fantastic answer. M&A is reputed to have incredibly long hours simply because of the nature of the jobs. I personally would never do that -Im more into Trading. Im assuming you did 18hour days? I need to set up an IB thread soon. The politics is annoying - I hate the fact that people are so egocentric and value themselves more than the roles but every job has its disadvantages. discounting is fun - but you forgot to mention doing pitchbooks and all the Excel modelling :D
