  1. Decisions are being mailed out...!
  2. The guy is wrong -- he's a graduate admissions guy. I didn't mean to pounce on you, I realise you picked up this info from the LSE guys. But don't worry, it's untrue. Your admission is *guaranteed* with a distinction, and your funding is most often looked after as well. This distinction only exists because of EU funding rules. MSc Econ Research is eligible for ESRC funding, whereas MSc Econ is not. Also, you automatically get your fee waived when you apply to the PhD programme, that's 30 pounds saved :) There is no other difference between the two programmes. It's just a name change for funding reasons.
  3. This is untrue. Im not sure what you mean, but on both counts, it's untrue. In case you meant progression from MSc to MRES, this is untrue. If you get an overall distinction grade in your final exam (2 above 70 2 above 60), then you will automatically be admitted to the MRes Track 2. In case you were referring to the Mres to PhD progression, once again this is not the case. As long as you meet the exact rule criteria into the Mres course, you will automatically progress. Only if you are a borderline case where you failed one will they decide on a case to case basis.
  4. No, people in the UK have already received Chicago admits.
  5. No news looks like bad news for Harvard, Princeton and Chicago. Or so I would think.
  6. Yale vs. Stanford? That's a no contest. Stanford's stipend of 30k, the perpetual summer weather, the rankings... what's there to decide?
  7. Most schools wait for the NSF results. NYU waited last year.
  8. Most schools wait for the NSF results. NYU waited last year.
  9. Macro theory - inequality/growth distributions; monetary search models; innovation and productivity.
  10. Chicago admits are trickling in... as always, postal service is their preferred choice of saying hello :)
  11. Last year they didn't notify everyone at the same time. It started with American students first and then the rest. Seems similar to the way things are now. I havent seen any international admits yet at Harvard.
  12. Krlcar got a personal admit. Princeton just sends out emails normally. Both rejects and acceptances (as well as wait lists) come out by email. Ooh, by the way, congratulations :)
  13. Antichron: Yes, it's the same link. Good luck :) TriEcon: I think it's normally standard safety policy for all schools to do that, provided you've chosen that particular school on the NSF form.
  14. Mattar, this is a funeral ceremony. Find a more appropriate forum to ask this question. Perhaps the profile/stats thread.
