  2. Hi All, Generally success stories are more interesting to read. Still, since I have learnt many things from TM and TM bloggers, i am looking further for more advice. Gave my GMAT yesterday. Got a very bad score of 610. Completely shattered....... Maths: 49, Verbal: 25 I don’t know what went wrong. I was preparing for GMAT very sincerely and worked a lot. During my preparation did OG twice and got all the concepts well in my mind. Did a lot of test papers too. The scores that I was getting made me confident enough that I will at least get a score of 680-690, might get 700+ too. During the real exam I wrote very good essays. I became confident that I am doing fine. My math section went very well and while I was doing my verbal I was confident that I am doing good. Didn’t got any feeling of nervousness or time lag. I was rather doing fine. But at the end when I clicked for my scores, the whole world started revolving in front of my eyes. I couldn’t understand, couldn’t comprehend anything. The test score that I gave during my preparation are as follows: Kaplan: Diagnostic – 640 Test 1 -- 560 Test 2 -- 590 Test 3 -- 600 Princeton: Test 1 – 710 Test 2 – 640 Test 3 – 680 Test 4 – 690 ETS REAL TESTS: Test 14 – 710 Test 31 - 650 Test 55 – 670 Test 25 – 720 Test 48 – 710 Test 28 – 760 Powerprep: PP1 – 770 (2 weeks before the exam) PP2 – 760 (two days before the exam) I was totally shattered after I saw my score. Have been nurturing the dream of doing my MBA from a good college but now I think that I will not be able to apply to any god college. Have learnt a lot from TM and am looking forward for the sincere suggestions of the members here. I am a s/w eng from India, working in a big MNC for past 3 years. Have done my BE from a top ranking college in India with first class (distinction).Have been getting very good grades in my academics throughout (above 90%). Do u think that I stand a chance of getting a good college ?? Can someone please advice me a list of college where I can apply for MBA ?? I am desperately looking forward for some suggestions. Please advice.

  4. 7. Advert: "Veran VE90 Digital Photocopier. New digital technology makes this copier better than your average laser-jet copier. It means you get laser quality printing for only £329.99." The main selling point of this advertisement would be nullified if: a.Laser-jet copiers work on average more quickly than the VE90 copier. b.Laser-jet copiers produced inferior copies to the VE90. c.Laser-jet copiers cost more than £329.99. d.The VE90 digital photocopier cost £329.99. e.Laser-jet copiers cost less than £329.99. I thought D is the answer but it OA Is . Can someone explain ??
  5. 2. An advert for InterNex Internet service states: "At InterNex we've assembled a fantastic line-up of top-celebrities writing exclusively for you! Now you can pose questions directly to Sarah Cane our Agony Aunt, catch up on all the latest games and gadgets with Craig Boone, and get in the 'Back of the Net' with Gordon Petersen our Football correspondent, debate the ethics behind the news with Joan Fern, plus enjoy a whole host of other top celebrities and online star interviews." The impact of this advertisement would be lessened by all of the following EXCEPT: a.A survey shows that 90% of members of the public have never heard of Joan Fern. b. One of the celebrities listed admitted in a newspaper article that he/she had never heard of InterNex. c.The people at whom this advert is targeted would probably never use the phrase "Back of the Net". d.Craig Boone provides services publicly for a rival Internet service. e. The people at whom the advert is targeted are not generally interested in football or debating ethics My answer is C. What do ya say ??
  6. 1. The bus stop outside New Malden police station is visited by the 131 and 265 buses. A 131 bus stops there at exactly 4p.m. What can we conclude about the people waiting at the stop at 4.01p.m. the same afternoon? I. They are probably not waiting for a 131 but we can't be sure. II.They are probably waiting for a 265. III. They are definitely not waiting for a 131. I only II only III only I and II II and III Will post the OA later ??
  7. Beautiful beaches attract people, no doubt about it. Just look at this city's beautiful beaches, which are among the most overcrowded beaches in the state. Which of the following exhibits a pattern of reasoning most similar to the one exhibited in the argument above? A) Moose and bear usually appear at the same drinking hole at the same time of day. Therefore, moose and bear must grow thirsty at about the same time. B) Children who are scolded severely tend to misbehave more often than other children. Hence if a child is not scolded severely that child is less likely to misbehave. C) This computer program helps increase the work efficiency of its users. As a result, these users have more free time for other activities. D) During warm weather my dog suffers from fleas more so than during cooler weather. Therefore, fleas must thrive in a warm environment. E) Pesticides are known to cause anemia in some people. However, most anemic people live in regions where pesticides are not commonly used. Pleae comment !!

  13. For most people, the left half of the brain controls linguistic capabilities, but some people have their language centers in the right half. When a language center of the brain is damaged, for example by a stroke, linguistic capabilities are impaired in some way. Therefore, people who have suffered a serious stroke on the left side of the brain without suffering any such impairment must have their language centers in the right half. Which of the following is an assumption on which the reasoning in the argument above depends? A. No part of a person’s brain that is damaged by a stroke ever recovers. B. Impairment of linguistic capabilities does not occur in people who have not suffered any damage to any language center of the brain. C. Strokes tend to impair linguistic capabilities more severely than does any other cause of damage to language centers in the brain. D. If there are language centers on the left side of the brain, any serious stroke affecting that side of the brain damages at least one of them. E. It is impossible to determine which side of the brain contains a person’s language centers if the person has not suffered damage to either side of the brain. B is what i thought is the answer ?? Still i m confused !!
  14. The growing popularity of computer-based activities was widely expected to result in a decline in television viewing, since it had been assumed that people lack sufficient free time to maintain current television-viewing levels while spending increasing amounts of free time on the computer. That assumption, however, is evidently false: in a recent mail survey concerning media use, a very large majority of respondents who report increasing time spent per week using computers report no charge in time spent watching television. Which of the following would it be most useful to determine in order to evaluate the argument? A. Whether a large majority of the survey respondents reported watching television regularly B. Whether the amount of time spent watching television is declining among people who report that they rarely or never use computers C. Whether the type of television programs a person watches tends to change as the amount of time spent per week using computers increases D. Whether a large majority of the computer owners in the survey reported spending increasing amounts of time per week using computers E. Whether the survey respondents’ reports of time spent using computers included time spent using computers at work Is B wrong ?? What's the logic of solving such type of questions ??
