  1. To clarify - I got all of the official offers in the last hour. I have not been purposefully holding onto multiple offers for a long time. Now, I am just frantically trying to make a decision lol. Declined BU.
  2. Any thoughts on Wisconsin versus Duke versus Boston University? I am particularly interested in macro, international macro, and trade, though my interests are still quite open honestly. I am very much leaning away from BU, but I thought I would include it just in case anyone feels strongly.
  3. Ahh gotcha gotcha. In general, I agree
  4. wait, I don't understand this comment? I am exhausted, so it's possible my English is just not English-ing today lol.
  5. Honestly, that's tough (at least for me). Penn would likely have the reputational advantage, but there are very strong & well-known faculty in the area at Wisconsin too. I am not as familiar with the structural metrics placements, but my overall view is that Wisconsin seems to "over achieve" in their placements, while Penn has recently seemed to kind of under achieve in my opinion. From what I have been able to gather, the environment is much more supportive & collaborative at Wisconsin, while Penn seems to have a more "cut throat" mentality. I have heard very mixed things from students regarding the culture at Penn. That kinda thing might not matter much to you, though.
  6. Yeah, I don't know of any school in this range that has officially confirmed that they are done sending offers (i.e. 1 friend already got off UChicago WL in the last couple days, but when another friend on the WL asked for an update, they said they are still calculating their numbers & may send more offers. This seems to be the case for many schools). Hopefully a lot more comes out tomorrow morning once everyone is back in the "office."
  7. I guess it depends on what you mean by "top schools," but I have heard the following (not necessarily 100% confirmed, though) Stanford, NYU, UChicago, Columbia, Duke, Cornell, and UW-Madison have made at least 1 WL offer Yale has said that they plan to release some more offers today No word on any others (i.e. Penn, Princeton, Michigan, Berkeley, etc.)
  8. Huge congrats!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
  9. They asked offer holders for an update about their decisions yesterday afternoon (in theory so that they could get a better sense of how many more waitlist offers they can send) edited to add: I would assume they would be sending them on Monday since that’s the last day, and I’m not sure that they send any on weekends. I have no direct information on timing, though.
  10. UC Davis seems likely to send out more admits.
  11. What do people do if they get another offer after the 15th?
  12. For whatever it's worth, I am aware of "confirmed" WL movement at: UVA, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Duke, UC Davis, and Brown.
  13. I know (secondhand) of waitlist movement from UC Davis, Brown (a while ago), and Vanderbilt. I have heard nothing about any of my waitlists, though. 🥴
  14. I think they might be referring to people who have already 100% made up their mind (and no amount of funding would alter their decision). For example, someone who knows they are going to Chicago, but has not yet declined NYU, Columbia, etc.
  15. I’m also struggling with this. UW-Madison seems to be very invested in its students, and I think their placements have shown that. I haven’t had the chance to hear from many current students at Penn, so I’d love any input y’all have on this. I also don’t think Penn has published its 2024 placements? I think that they kind of approach Macro the same way, too? Not sure about International.
  16. Wait that's wild that they haven't had their visit day yet....
  17. Any perceptions from visit days / feelings from current grad students / info on faculty changes / general vibes on the following programs? Particularly as it relates to Macro / International Economics? - UW Madison - Duke - Michigan - NYU - Penn Any insight at all is helpful! Feel free to DM me if you'd prefer.
  18. I think the most informative parts of visit days for me have been very personal / specific to me. Like how I felt about walking around the campus, if the students made me feel comfortable, if the housing options available nearby were in neighborhoods I could see myself living, if my conversations with faculty members were productive / they seemed interested to get to know me, etc. TLDR: visit days are more about the vibes for me Edited to clarify that I am talking about the in-person components of the visit days.
  19. Any specific questions / topics?
  20. Yeah, I'm sure most movement won't really start until next week or so, but I am remaining optimistic. 😂
  21. okay so it's finally April, where is all that waitlist movement I was promised?!? 🥴
  22. At least some of them were (not sure about all). I believe they might have two waitlists.
  23. That’s still wild to me that they changed your offer after giving it to you, though!! Super bizarre Glad to hear that you have other great offers!
