Hey Erin and all TMians,
I had posted previously in "Just finished my GMAT" forum. Didn't get an y replies, hence hoping this one's the correct one...
As evident from my scores, had a disappointing GMAT experience today. Either ways, Thanks to Erin, Spidey & many others for the notes and numerous postings on this site. Great job at hosting and maintaining such an useful site. Though my verbal scores are pretty close to what they were when I started preparing about 3-4 months back:(, the notes and discussion on this site helped me REALLY IMPROVE my scores on the practice tests in the past couple of months. Unfortunately on the day it really mattered, my scores were back to where I began.
Most questions in the Math section were above average in difficulty - Kaplan / Hard OG level. I ran out of time & missed the last question.
Verbal was pretty tough too - level of Hard OG's. Had 2- long(about 90 lines each) RC's. SC's were pretty okay. CR's were above average, had 1-bold face CR. Overall I thought I fared pretty well on my verbal - actaully I thought I had done better on verbal than Math - Guess that wasn't the case though.
1) I am in a big dilema of whether to give the GMAT again. If I had scored low on Math I would I have blindly given the test again, because I missed one & probably made a couple of mistakes too. But the fact that I had really improved on my verbal skills in practice & even worser thought that I had done well on the GMAT when that wasn't the case, really worries me now about my judgement.
Does it make sense to give the GMAT again? What if my scores fall below 640? I am worried it might further worsen my chances - ANY Suggestions/ Advice would be greatly appreciated.
2) I have about 6 Yrs. of Work Exp in High Tech. Any idea if this kind of Work Exp would compensate for the low scores, to get into the top-10/15 schools?...might sound overambitious, but I need to make a tough call on leaving a full-time job & if I can't get into the top 10 or so, it might just make sense to stay back.
ANY Thoughts/suggestions/ Inputs/ Previous experiences of score v/s Work exp...would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!!
