  1. Can some one pls share their opinion on Purdue........I heard their MBA is quite good for ppl interested in tech focus...BW rates it as 21, but it does not even feature in the FT rankings!!!! any idea?
  2. I meant schools with MBA programs available on technology, IT ....
  3. GMATBong, you are right, most of the UK schools seem to lack tech focus. As for the US top 30, I have narrowed down to the following list for schools with IT/Tech focus (outside top 10) - NYU Stern Carnegie Melon Texas McCombs UC Berkley Purdue What do you think? Any other US schools you are aware of?
  4. Thanks sg2005...I am in the same boat as yourself - desi IT, I have just started researching on b-schools and the "indian IT pool = least favoured demographic" deal came as quite a shock to me :-0 I have decided to stick to IT after MBA, so am trying to hunt for tech focussed programs where I stand a decent chance. The only strong point in my app is going to be my GMAT(760), and GPA is not bad either... Are you also planning to stick to IT, if so have you narrowed down to some 5 or 6 choices?
  5. GMATbong, thanks for your response, I am in US now, but I am also planning to try out some UK schools...do you know of any good UK schools with tech related courses?
  6. This might seem a very naive question, but I was wondering about the value of doing an MBA in a b-school outside the Top 20, lets say Vanderbilt(US 30th.) or McGill(considered for ranking but not in International Top 10). Is it worth the huge investment? My GMAT is 760 and GPA is quite good, but I feel that my background - Indian IT engineer will seriously jeopardize my prospects of getting admission in the Top 10. I am sure there are lots of guys out there with the same problem. Would greatly appreciate some advice on the choice of b-school and programs. I am not planning on a career switch, but wish to remain in IT after completing my MBA.
  7. Hi sg2005, where do you gather the information for preferance of different b-schools? Collecting from the net seems to be a thankless job. Are you using some book, or do you know of any good website? Please let me know
  8. Took the GMAT yesterday, 760 was totally unexpected... The Quants section was rather easy, very [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] level, and midway I was grappling with the suspicion that I had screwed up the 2nd or 3rd Q, as a result of which I was not getting qs. from the hard bin. So my advise to everyone is - if you feel the Qs. popping up are too easy, dont panic, it is more likely that you overprepared for GMAT. Verbal was as expected - SCs were tricky, but if you have thoroughly digested [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] SC, the SC notes on Dave's web site (http://home.comcast.net/~dave.kim/GMAT_Study_Strategy.htm) and spiderman's notes you should be on firm ground. Thanks to Erin for this great forum and thanks to all the forum members. Good Luck!!!
  9. Another method, find the equation of the line joining 2 of the points - easy, calculate the length of the perpendicular on this line from the 3rd point(using formula), then area = 1/2 base * perpendicular, where base = distance between the 1st 2 points
  10. Is the average of X consecutive numbers odd? (1) The first number in the series is odd. (2) The sum of the numbers is odd.
  11. 1. Salt deposits and moisture threaten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an ancient civilization that flourished at the same time as the civilizations in the Nile delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates. (A) that flourished at the same time as the civilizations (B) that had flourished at the same time as had the civilizations © that flourished at the same time those had (D) flourishing at the same time as those did (E) flourishing at the same time as those were OA is A, but is A grammatically correct?? shouldnt it have been "same time as *did* the civi..... I am raising this doubt as I find many Qs emphasizing a key concept on how we should not compare things in certain ways For eg. correct usage is he runs faster than most of his classmates do.
  12. I think answer should be 90/3! = 15 as the order in which the groups are selected should not matter.
  13. you rock man!! awesome score... I just had one Q., you mentioned that quants Qs got tougher 6. onwards, as expected of course. Would you say they match the really tough Qs on this forum, or just the harder [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] Qs.
  14. Does any one know whether we can provide fictitious examples to support the argument in analysis of Issue essays, or do they have to be genuine examples. Since specific examples seem to be a must to get a 6 score, I feel its important to know this.
