  1. Ah I am really sorry to hear: this must be terribly stressful for you guys... I hope it works out for you! I declined my offer last Friday and I know some other ppl also did it this week. Please lmk if you have any questions about the program, as I was at the visting day.
  2. At visiting day, they claimed there is no waitlist for MRes+PhD in Econ, although I cannot be sure... Better email them.
  3. I know that some people have declined their offers but I've heard that we'll probably start hearing only next week...
  4. As far as I've heard, it is not as common as the US. However, there are jobs in data science (e.g. Deliveroo) or in tech in Europe (e.g. Amazon in Germany), although I do not know too much about the market in Europe. There are also places like IFS and CEP that hire PhD non-macro economists.
  5. thought the `short waitlist thing` is generic... I have not heard anything since January apart from the fact that some ppl were rejected recently, meaning higher yield rate than expected.
  6. Hello! Anybody heard about any positive news about movement on the Stanford waitlist?? I've only heard about people getting rejected after being waitlisted and a higher yield rate than expected.
  7. Some universities invite waitlisted candidates to visiting days, either with admitted students or seperately. I would certainly email to check if any of your schools offer something like this or whether they plan any activities for waitlisted candidates (before reaching out to current students). One of the schools I am waitlisted in is doing a visiting day close to 15th of April only for visiting candidates. Not sure if this is common tho
  8. Any idea on NYU stipends and whether it's enough to live in New York?
  9. hello last year they replied for DPhil (not integrated mphil + dphil) ~19th march (at least to some applicants). This year afaik they are trying to respond earlier, so my guess would be next week, although obv I might be wrong. Also, they are trying to improve the funding situation for DPhil and the progam generally more attractive.
  10. I am really sorry for you guys! This cycle has been quite tough and also admissions are so random. I hope you have better luck next time you apply (IF you apply). And please do share your profiles, I'm sure some of us would be glad to say where you can do to increase your chances next time...
  11. Based on today update on GC, Stanford shortened their waiting list? Tho it seems that there are no acceptances from waitlist yet... If anybody else knows anything, it would be much appreciated!
  12. I'm sorry to hear that 😞 this must've been painful.
  13. not yet, they must be doing the weird pre-offer email for a reason imo
  14. No news can't be a bad thing, given how many rejections they sent today!
  15. My personal ranking (and within each tier the schools are also ranked): Top 1-2: Harvard, MIT Top 3: Stanford Top 4-7: Princeton, Yale, UCB, Chicago Top 8-11: Northwestern, Columbia, NYU, LSE Below that is hard to say... Feel free to disagree, my fields are development and metrics theory.
