  1. I hope it's getting better, because I've heard people on the verge of suicide bc of attending that institution. Sad, but it's the truth.
  2. I know A LOT of people that have finished the program there and they all say it's horrible. Apparently they don't have enough money to fund students or something so there is always uncertainty regarding that. Resources for your research are also scarce and faculty don't seem to care for their students. Of course I don't know first hand, but that's what I have heard from many people. I would stay away.
  3. Don't go there, that place is horrible.
  4. International, nonresident and no treaty. So I guess I'll have to pay federal and state taxes (?).
  5. Hi, does anyone know how much (%) of your stipend do you pay in taxes? Is it only the % for Federal, State and Local or also FICA? I've heard that students don't pay FICA. Thanks a lot.
  6. I will reject the offer, good luck!
  7. Does anyone know how big was the stipend given to admitted UCSD students?
  8. Me, sent an e-mail and they told me they are "not able to offer me admission" and apologized for not sending me the formal e-mail.
  9. Very important. Living comfortably vs bellow the poverty line. lol
  10. Their system is a mess bc it is separate from the grad school, so don't be optimistic.
  11. For northwestern I haven't received a response, e-mailed and they said that they were still looking through some applications. It is very likely an implicit waitlist.
  12. Duke at least, yes, probably.
  13. I hope in the future Economics isn't such a toxic disgusting discipline anymore.
  14. I love how supportive we all are in this forum. This has been such a hard time, I wasn't expecting it to affect me that much either.
  15. I got mostly rejections, something will come up for you! And if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. I know someone from my school that got rejected everywhere one year and the next year he got admitted to a top 5. There is a lot of luck in the process. I am pretty much sure that they don't even read all applications, even those that have decent GRE and GPAs, sometimes you could get lucky, sometimes not, so don't take it as a reflection of your worth.
  16. Same for Johns Hopkins. I have a better offer, but still.
  17. Its probably good and will help you to get admitted into a PhD afterwards, specially at that institution.
  18. I think they are rejections and waitlists. I wouldn't have high expectations. It makes sense for universities that are competing for students to let their best fits know asap.
  19. Has anyone heard anything from Northwestern?
  20. I thought MIT was out and all of us who didn't hear from them were already rejected implicitly. Still, of course I expect a rejection, I mean come on, it's the fucking MIT lol.
  21. I got admitted but will reject the offer now, good luck! I hope it is a wait list.
  22. Where is that post? How do you know it's not a troll? IR for me too 😞
