  1. I have heard that there is a lot of competition between the students at the economics program at Penn. Does any one know if this is true, also whether they try to weed out their incoming class by the first year qualifiers? Thanks a lot for the help.
  2. I applied to Caltech and got in and am seriously considering going there. Does anybody have any thoughts on this or is anybody else considering this. I also got into Northwestern, UCSD, and UCLA. I am interested in mathematical economics and IO. Thanks
  3. First off big congratualtions, great program. Second, if you don't mind sharing what type of funding did you get, because I am still waiting on my funding from them. Thanks a lot, and keep em coming in.
  4. Yes, these ranking are the one from phds.org with faculty quality the only criterion selected.
  5. In the US News graduate ranking for economics graduate school, caltech is ranked 14th. Also, the admissions advisor at NU gave me some rankings that had them at 19th from phds.org. What other rankings are avaliable?
  6. I have to agree. I mean they have Caltech ranked at 43, and even though it may not be the best program, I think it is definitley higher than that. They are in the top 20 in every other ranking I have seen.
  7. You have some really good offers there. Like I said on the other page, I think there is still hope at Northwestern, and the only reason I heard early was because I applied for a fellowship that required them to rush the admissions process. What happened with Duke though, it seems like they rejected a lot of people this year?
  8. Just recieved email from UCSD saying that they couldn't offer any financial aid in the first year, but students in good standing get TA's in 2-5. So much for that. Hey econ, was yours for the first year, or were they only able to offer you for the last 4?
  9. Did you have to email them, or did they just send one to you. Cause i got my email of acceptance on feb. 8th and still have not heard. Anyways, congratulations, and thanks a lot.
