  1. Have you asked them if they could waive the TSE requirement? Or may be you could talk to some prof from there to convince them that your English is good enough. If they really want you this may work. Best luck!
  2. 2psymath Well, actually I AM very happy with Rice admit. The amount of financial aid they offer is very generous compared to other math/applied math programs. And I'm not required to teach in my first year.
  3. A fresh bunch of rejects. First came a snail mail from Northwestern. As it wasn't enough, I decided then to call UTexas cause they didn't answer a single e-mail with status inquiries for weeks. The graduate coordinator told me that they have already sent all the decisions by e-mail and informed me that mine was a ding. With one admit so far it seems that I will have no problems choosing a graduate program.
  4. 2psymath: Congratulations! 2JC_Maxwell: Have you emailed UTexas about the status of your application or they just sent you reject by themselves? Do you have any information about when to expect decisions from UMD?
  5. Sorry for you psymath. I still wait to hear from Maryland. "Decision pending" says the online status page. BTW have anyone heard from UT-Austin?
  6. A small update: Just received my second reject. Caltech wishes me "best of luck" and to "be able to pursue graduate work at another university". Anyone got an admit from them?
  7. 2psymath Have you also applied to pure math programs? Any admits?
  8. 2JC_Maxwell Have you heard anything from UTexas? They didn't answer my e-mail about application status. 2NgocLan I haven't call Caltech. But they say that they will make all their decisions no later than the 1st of April. 2psymath Well, actually lack of news from Cornell could mean good news to you. Since they have sent a big bunch of rejects yesterday and you didn't receive one it seems that you have pretty good chances of being admitted.
  9. 2Orpheus I've e-mailed Cornell several day before and just received an answer that I was rejected  My score is 1-1-7 now. 2NgocLan I'm also still waiting for Caltech decision. According to WhoGotIn they have already admitted some people, so I think those to whom the decisions have not been sent yet are on a sort of waitlist.
  10. Hi TMians! Since it seems that there are very few applicants to Applied/Computational Math programs at this forum I'd like to establish this thread to post all of your Apllied Math admits/rejects here. As for me I have 1 admit so far: Rice U (fellowship + tuition) UMN placed me on some sort of wait list :hmm: No rejects yet :) Still waiting for 8 schools to make up their minds
  11. Try to call grad secretary by phone. They can ignore email, but a phone call is much harder to ignore.
  12. Hi TMians! Does anyone here apply to Applied/Computatinal Mathematics programs? I applied to the follwing univs: Caltech UMN Twin Cities Cornell UMD College Park UT Austin Northwestern Rice UWashington Gatech No accepts or rejects yet. Have anyone applied to these univs? Do you have any news from them?
