Hi Erin and hi friends, I am Pradeep from Madurai, India. I have completed my Bachelors in Computer Science & Engineering....I've got 70% acads....good recos.....293/300 in TOEFL and in GRE, 610 in verbal, 760 in Quants and 3.5 in AWA :( (hope this doesnt affect my admission chances!) I have applied to six univs for an MS in CS [/size]FOR THE SPRING 2003[/size] Semester... Texas A&M univ, college Station Florida State Univ Kansas STate Univ Illinois Institute of TEchnology Univ of Tennessee, knoxville Univ of Massachusetts, Lowell Erin, pls tell me if I stand a chance of getting admits from these univs.....I am eagerly expecting a favorable reply from TAMU......what do u think? Hi all, I am straight from the Prometric Testing Centre....my scores are: Verbal : 610 Quants: 760 :-( I have done my AWAs well. Thanx a lot Erin, Sri and TootsieRoll for ur advice and encouragement! I am happy with my verbal score (I didn't have more than 30 days to study the entire list of words!) My quants score is a wee bit disappointing, though. Does any one have any idea what my percentile will be ? Keep up the good work Magicians........... Luv u lotz,

Hi Sri, So wonderful to see ppl like u who care and spend time to advise others. I will keep all ur points in my mind. By the way, will I have enough time to apply for the september entry in the universities? Erin, I have taken a few practice tests. I seem to fare well in analogies, antonyms and sentence completions. I must improve my reading comp skills, though. The answers seem to look all alike in this section. I will keep u all posted....

I have finished 37 word lists........and as u have both suggested, I am going to dive into Princeton Review........and Erin, most of the download links at http://www.downdowndown.net doesn't seem to work........anyway, thanx for the link and I was able to get lots of analogy resources from there.

Hi erin, I don't have the Big Book. Is there any one from India reading this who has the Big Book? If so, pls contact me by posting a reply here. Erin, I am not actually mugging up words now...I am looking for word associations and roots and learning them......it takes about 45 minutes to complete 1 word list.....but i can remember all the words very well..(I hope thats true!) I have been following this method for about three weeks. Another thing, Erin. You were telling abt practice tests. I have Princeton Review and Arco Prep books. Are their practice tests good enough? I also attempted the ETS powerPrep and got something around 650 in Verbal and 740 or so in Quantitative. Is this score comparable with my actual test marks? Erin, your reply and my lack of the Big Book have made me more NERVOUS!!!!!! Regards,

Hi pals, I have finished my TOEFL (293/300) and I am now feverishly preparing (cramming, rather!) for GRE. I have just 10 more days for my exam which is on feb 10th. I have completed 30 word lists in Barron's and am confident abt the reading, sentence completion and quantitative sections. The only thing that worries me is the verbal sec. Will I be ready for the test? Is it just enuf to cram all the 4000 odd words or shud I study the analogy qns parallely? Erin, Any comments...? (pls ! I expect one......I am sooooo vexed!...GRE costs Rupees 7000 in India and it is now or never fo me.....:([V]

Hi all ! I forgot to add abt my essay section. The topic was "When actors, athletes and pop stars speak their opinions, many people listen. In ur opinion, should we give importance adn listen to them? Give examples..." I havent written up to my satisfaction. I did not give any examples....so I think my score will come down to 4 to 4.5. Hi all ! Thumbs up to [tm] ! I have just come back home from my TOEFL exam test center. I have done well and up to my satisfaction. The questions are not as easy as we all expect them to be. Even the structure section has very confusing answers.Those guys and gals using the Barron's and Cambridge study materials, beware! The listening and reading sections of the actual exam are far more tougher than those of the practice tests in these books. Cliff's TestPrep is better for listening section. This is my Score: Listening : 30 (Yep !:D All questions are correct in both Reading : 30 listening and reading as well as structure Structure: 13 to 29 grammar questions :p:p) ( i'm not too sure abt the 13 to 29 score, i don't seem to remember the exact range) Score range : 243 - 297 (I dunno why the maximum mark is 297 and not 300) I am a regular visitor of TestMagic and have taken lots of tips from this fabulous site, especially the essays.
