  1. :) yeah definetly trying to i just have to emphasize my soft skills, i am very good in interviews if they call me for an interview i will be able to convince them but thats all that i wish they do :)
  2. I am not sure whether all this was an exercise in futility or a way to make me finally come to terms with the fact that it would require an extraordinary effort on my part to break the 700+ barrior. 660 - 2 years ago 610 - april 2005 680 - Today. 49Q 34V. Verbal has been my sore point all along and this has been irrespective of the fact that i personally feel that i speak/write very good english. My quant scored are more or less unchanged in all the 3 exams and the only way i could beat the 700+ was to score more on the verbal. I tried and tried, and studied SC,RC,CR over and over again, but for some reason i just don't make that cut. I personally don't feel that I am going to attempt the GMAT again the time/value proposition just doesn't make sense, I have struggled with the fact that maybe a score of 750 would give me a much better chance to go to the ivy league schools and hence the reason that i tried twice this year, but I think it would take me another 2 months of intense study to get what i want and that would come at the cost of the rest of the application. A part of it also has to do with my personality, the only reason i waited so long from april to july was because i got a motorcycle and was enjoying riding it in this beautiful california summer, so in between attending beethoven symphonies and mandarin classes and riding my motorcycle and going to the gym and reading books i averaged about 5 hours/week and maybe 4hours/weekends, which i think was enough anything else would have just killed me. I didn't try practice test before this exam as i had timed myself well and i practically recognized all the questions so it was futile, i didn't bother solving the hardest probability question 'cause it thought i should concern myself with the 98% of the problems which are not probability and which i can be perfect at rather than spend 40% of my time answering 2% of the problems. Anyway this post has now become more like a blog of my feelings rather than the reason why anyone would read such posts' and that is what did i do right and what did i do wrong. Right Things 1. Manhatthan GMAT for Sentence Correction - it does not get better than this 2. Princenton Verbal - nothing else. 3. Regular long time reader of WSJ and other business magazines. 4. No Overindulgence in extremely difficult questions of probability/permutation/combination circular/linear the whole enchillada. 5. Little bit of LSAT for RC and CR. its over the top but i was good in those topics. Wrong Things 1. Didn't stress myself out enough, i used to slog in my engineering exams in india. 2. I might have done bad in RC 3. Unrealistic expectation. Profile 28 Year, EE Engineer, Indian. Job Profile - analysis/design of complex business rules. Ambition - MBA International Business looking for a job profile to work in Hi-tech companies as new business development in emerging nations (south east asia india/china) . if i get my green card :) preferably Insead ( part year France and part year in Singapore) GSB Chicago ( part year chicago + part year either London School or Business + part year in india) Dartmouth College if i don't get my green card :( preferably Insead ( part year France and part year in Singapore) London School of Business well i guess this is it. :) best of luck to y'all

    Timing Strategy

    does anyone have a timing strategy while giving the exam ?? for e.g. when the clock shows Quant ? 75 - START 0 60 - be on 7 45 - be on 14 30 - be on 22 15 - be on 29 5 - be on 35 Verbal? 75 - START 0 60 - be on 8 45 - be on 16 30 - be on 24 15 - be on 32 5 - be on 39
  4. congratulations !!! hard works pays off in the end. i have my test tomorrow, i hope quant is not way way different, as i am totally focussed on verbal which is my weakest part :). best of luck for your apps...... btw bw is a great link i have used it in the past for lot of questions.... c u in bschool.
  5. i am personally of the view that its very much possible to improve ur quant score than improve anything else.
  6. i hate to be so blunt but working for a non profit org just to make ur application look good is frankly just ridiculous., u got to be atleast true to yourself first before you go an apply for an mba.
  7. I think the best answer is "E" "D" is a close second, a and b need a that, to fix atleast some of the problems , c is just nonsensical
  8. i think its B. "like" should not be used here,
  9. i guess some people are just brilliant. i just have no other words to describe this girl. although i know of folks who have scored 660 in 2 weeks but this score in 2 weeks in unbelievable, and it cannot be a fluke
  10. i would say take it again, its much easier to improve on ur quant score than i think it is to improve on ur verbal u already have a 91, not sure how higher u could go , but by focussing on quant again u should do well. I would advise against studying needless questions like probability/permutation computation 'cause if ur 64 the only way ur going to get those questions is if ur scoring really really high, and i am not advising against not doing it but if u have 30 days spend 26 days on everything else and 4 days on all those "extra hard questions" . hope it helps i think u can do better given ur experience, not sure about egyptians but if u were a indian with that sort of a quant score i would have encouraged u to go and retake the exam wholeheartedly , i think any indian taking the exam should put 90% as his lower end of the score, and there are countless people who easily do it.
  11. i am stuck with a similar predicament i scored 660,610 and i am attempting it once more on July 28th but thats the final attempt i really don't think that beyond this there is anything i could possibly do in another month or so that can drastically change my score. I have focussed on my weak areas like sentence correction, but i am personally of the opinion that even though u can have a 'can do attitude' it would be foolish to not realize when enough is enough, and by the 690 is a good score if u know u can sell urself well at the university and differentiate urself from the crowd ..and that doesn't change if u get a 750 or 790, i would assume that if u think u can get a interview call for the universities u aim for than the score should be enough
  12. "d' is just too wordy u want to be concise
  13. i understand "c' is wrong but i don't think 'c' is in passive tone.
  14. answer is "D" i have seen similar questions, the sentence is itself seems to suggests that the monuments in brittany are not of the same age as that of its meditteranean predecessors but infact older than them
