  1. Hi All, I haven't posted much myself, but I have read a lot of posts so I figured I would give back to the forum. Just got back from the testing center in Dallas, TX. Got 690 (Q42, V42) 91st %ile. Here's some background and how it went down: I am a University of Texas Austin grad with 2 and a half years experience in management consulting. Hoping to get my MBA part time from UT Austin @ DFW program while continuing to work. I think you need at least 660 to be considered. I was shooting for 700-720. Test at 8, woke up at 6. Arrived at the center at 7:30. Didn't know I needed my passport as a Canadian citizen and a US permanent resident so I was told I could not take the exam. I was really stressed! Got my wife to bring me the passport just to have a explanation on the incident report to hopefully test again without having to pay. They amazingly let me in at 8:25. The testing center lady was really rude and so I was pretty upset. Totally flustered at this point. Got 2 essay questions that really suited my background so no problem knocking those out. Took a short break and wanted to get on the math section. The math on the actual GMAT is much more difficult than I expected. I really thought I was prepared going into the test, and on all my practice exams I did much better than on test day. Found there to be a lot of DS questions, and the PS were mostly number properties. Very easy probablility question came up near the end - that's when I knew I bombed the math. 67th %ile. At this point, I really didn't care much about the verbal. Was just trying to get through it so I could go home and register again for the exam. I think that attitude helped me relax. I found all of the verbal section to be easy and was shocked to see my score in the 96th %ile. There was an even mix of all the typical verbal questions. Nothing stood out as really tough - for sure nothing tougher than the hard OG questions or the stuff on PowerPrep/GMatPrep. All in all, I guess I can say I am happy with the result. I am really confident that with my undergrad GPA (3.95) and a 690 test score, I should be able to get in to the program I want. Here are my points of wisdom: 1. Study the math. A lot. Under time pressure. I had 5 questions to go with 6 minutes left. I know I can do MUCH better on the math. 2. Native english speakers should focus on the math and take prep time away from the verbal. I found it to be much easier than any of the practice tests on paper or in the software. I know it is different for non-native speakers, I feel for you guys. 3. The new GMATPrep software is exactly the same as the real thing. It is probably the best indicator of actual performance. 4. Relax! It made all the difference on the verbal section. I am considering taking the exam again because I know I can easily break 730 or better by just getting a few more math section q's correct. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to respond. Thanks again to everyone in this forum for all the help. It seems that most GMATPrep questions are explained somewhere in the forum.
