  1. Thank you very much, freeze and engsamah. I think that I have big problems to form my own arguments.
  2. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One should never judge a person by external appearances. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. It is nature that people make a judgment about a person based on their first impressions. Some people judge a person by his or her looks, while others do not think so. In my opinion, people should never judge a person by his or her external appearances. There are some reasons to support my opinion. First of all, person’s external appearance sometimes causes misleading. It is often said that all that glitters is not gold. Judging a person by his or her exterior is quite similar to choosing an apple by its surface. When buying apples, people often pick beautiful one as their first choice. However, some apples look pretty outside but rotten inside. That is to say, some people have charming looks but may not be good at heart. For example, my classmate, Johansson, looks unfriendly but he is really a very kind person. beneath his rough surface. Second, some people may evaluate one’s capability by his or her appearance, and think that people with good looks are reliable and trustworthy. However, it is unfair and one-sided to judging people by their exteriors. Take my boss for example. He often makes judgments about new recruits by their looks and sometimes gets wrong information. To evaluate people fairly, we should consider their characteristics and all other situations. A person wearing expensive clothing and pretty makeup may not be intelligent and diligent. To sum up, external appearance is one way to judge a person but not the best one to judge one’s personality. Although we can get useful information through one's exterior, external appearance sometimes causes misleading. Moreover, we should evaluate people fairly. Therefore, I agree with that people should never judge a person by external appearances. It tooks me 1.5 hours to finish this essay. SIGH~~~:smack:
  3. Topic: Some people enjoy change, and they look forward to new experiences. Others like their lives to stay the same, and they do not change their usual habits. Compare these two approaches to life. Which approach do you prefer? Explain why. Some people enjoy changes and look forward to new experiences, while others like their lives to stay the same and do not change their habits. Both of these two approaches to life have advantages and disadvantages. As far as I am concerned, people should expose themselves to challenges in their lives rather than live an unchanging life. Living without changes, people can lead more stable lives than those who seek for new experiences. In this fixed approach, people often do things habitually. They can avoid lots of mistakes and succeed without taking risks. However, this approach not only makes people inflexible, but also rigid in their thinking. For example, farmers, who fear to adopt new technology, might reap limited harvests with the traditional method. On the other hand, people who enjoy changing their lives have more positive attitudes toward challenges than those who live without changes. They often look forward to challenges and seek for new experiences in rapidly changing society. Thus, they would get more opportunities to succeed. For example, Chien-Ming Wang, the Chinese pitcher in New York Yankee, moved to America from Taiwan to experience different skills in baseball, and now wins victories in his Major League career. To sum up, I believe that living with various changes is wiser than that without any change. Although people living in a stable situation can succeed without gambling, I am sure that enjoying changes gives us more opportunities to have successful and colorful lives. My friend said that this essay is awful, and I feel so frustrated. :wallbash:
  4. Topic: Many Students choose to attend schools or universities outside their home countries. Why do some students study abroad? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer. There are many different reasons why people choose to study abroad. When talking about studying overseas, it is important to consider three basic points of view. Some people study abroad for knowledge, while others do for new experiences. However, some people attend to schools or universities outside their home countries just to get a qualification for career preparation. First of all, some people look forward to learn more knowledge. It is often said that knowledge is the key to power. People should learn as much as they can. My sister, for example, worked in famed Hotel as a PR manager. Some day, she thought that she could not learn more from her work. She had decided to study abroad and got more knowledge about public relations and marketing. Second, some people are eager to expose to new challengers and seek for new experiences. Studying abroad makes people experience different culture and offers people the experience of independence. The more people go far away from their home, the more experiences they gain in real life. Take myself for example. I often think that studying overseas is a fabulous thing. If I could study abroad one day, it would be a wonderful memory. I could study the subject I want to learn, and make friends with those from different countries. Beside, I could learn how to take care of myself. Third, some people choose to study abroad to get a qualification. For instance, my classmate thinks that it is helpful in his job to studying abroad and getting a degree. Therefore, he went abroad to study after graduating from university. Now, he has a good job and a good position. To sum up, people in my country choose to study overseas for three basic reasons I have mention above. I believe that studying abroad would enrich my life. Moreover I could gain a lot of new experiences when studying overseas.
  5. Topic: You have the opportunity to visit a foreign country for two weeks. Which country would you like to visit? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice. It would be great to get an opportunity to visit a foreign country for two weeks. If I had such a chance to visit a foreign country, I would no hesitate to choose Britain. The main reason why I would choose Britain as my destination is that I want to visit London and Cambridge. London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is one of modern cities in the world. There are rich art and culture matters in London. It often draws my attention with its theaters, museums, and art galleries. I often listen to the musical, The Phantom of the Opera, on the radio and dream that I could go to the theater to take pleasure in the musical. Not only the musical, but also the numbers of museums and galleries in London attract me. Take the famed museum, the British Museum, for example. I could see many historical heritages gathering from all over the world there. Moreover, London has a good public transportation system, underground and double-deck bus. I could go any places via the convenient underground and do sightseeing by bus. In my opinion, London is not just the capital of the United Kingdom, but a wonderful city worthy to visit. The second city of Britain I would like to visit is Cambridge, well known for its university. A Chinese poet wrote several poems describing the beautiful sights about the town and the River Cam, and I am enchanted with those poems. I often image that I could meander along the historic street and sit on the side of the River Cam to enjoy the sunlight and breeze. Of course, there are other countries I could visit if I had the opportunity to visit a foreign country for two weeks. However, I think Britain would be my first choice.
