  1. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e289/infinity10/b03cc1fc.jpg 30. x and y are positive integers and x > y. Col A: (x^2)/(y^3) Col B: (y^3) / (x^2) OA is C, but I chose D. Can someone explain? For #29 especially, what is a fast way to solve these types of questions?Thanks.
  2. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e289/infinity10/7ef9f115.jpg How do you solve this? Thanks.
  3. I hadn't used 0 at all since it asks for a negative or positive number. But based on your fact, you can rule out using 0 and test other numbers to get to the answer.
  4. #4. Yes, sorry for the error. Guess I thought too fast. That is true. If v is positive we is subtracted from v, then it will be like saying v - (-we) = v + we = positive answer #3, sorry I misunderstood. Thought your symbols meant that 9 * 1/3 = 3, which is why I had reduced them, but it is actually 9*1/3 or 28/3. From 4 to 12, is a total of 9 numbers (12-4 = 8 + 1 = 9). n will lie somewhere between 4 and 12. Then, they say that n = 2 times as far from 4 as from 12, which I'm going to interpret as a 2:1 ratio, which is a total of 3 (2+1). Then, n would have to include a factor of 1/3 into its answer. Answer: 9*1/3
  5. Yes, these are the questions that had given me trouble because I hadn't agreed with the OA, so needed explanations. Suffice to say, some of your answers are like mine while some others have cleared up my confusion. Thanks!
  6. Hi, Thanks. For #2, my bridge was that something moderate will not show intensity and I picked A, something extenuate will not show seriousness. Actually, OA is C which is an error I think. A few more 1. PRODIGY: PERSON A. pagan: iconoclast B. beacon: shadow C. maniac: obsession D. traitor: confidence E. miracle: occurrence 2. MOIST: SODDEN A. warm: inviting B. surprised: astonished C. magical: sentimental D. hopeless: bereft E. soft: euphonious 3. DOSE:MEDICINE A. current: river B. electricity: shock C. tremor: earthquake D. sentence: punishment E. tempo:music 4. DINGY: GLISTEN A. slippery: adhere B. coarse: polish C. sharp: hone D. shallow: overflow E. savory: taste Which is better, A or D?
  7. Thank you. One question for #2, how did you get C? Even if you add the sums out, you get E = 420 and K = 400 Col A: E - K = 20 Col B: 40 What am I doing wrong?:hmm:
  8. Area of sector: (n/360)*pi*r^2 Area of arc: (n/360)*2*pi*r ...because the arc is the measurement of the outer part of the circle, you are in a way looking for a part of the circumference 3)If n is the number on the number line between 4 and 12 thats is twics as far from 4 as from 12 then n is 6*(2/3) 8 9*(1/3) 10*(1/2) 11*(1/4) I got 8 by plugging in choices. First reduce the answers down to make it easier. Then plug in numbers. Eliminate A, C, and E, because they are less than 4. You're left with B and D. I got 8 because n is 2 times as far as 4. Is this correct? I'm wondering how to write "as from" into a math equation. 4)if we is a negative integer and v is positive integer ,which of the following must be true I wv is negavtive integer II w-v is a positive integer III v-w is a positive integer I only II only III only I and III I,II and III I got "I only" because you don't know how big we is or how small v can be.
  9. Can someone explain how they got the answers for these? Thanks. 1. EXCULPATORY: ABSOLVE A. motivational: stir B. conventional: resist C. rhetorical: speak D. pedantic: learn E. ponderous: choose 2. MODERATE: INTENSITY A. extenuate: seriousness B. separate: distance C. indulge:chaos D. commemorate:memorial E. disparage: animosity ACCUMULATION: A. severance B. dissipation C. reciprocity D. absolution E. renumeration I picked B, but answer is D. Can someone explain? Thanks.
  10. 1. Col A: (1/m) + (1/n) Col B: (m+n)/mn I said ans D because the question didn't have any conditions so m and n can be integers, fractions, positive, negative, even equal to each other. But OA was C. Can someone explain? 2. E is the sum of the first 40 positive even integers K is the sum of the first 40 positive odd integers Col A: E - K Col B: 40 What is a quick way of doing this? I added very quickly and got B as my answer, but OA says A. Maybe a typo? 3. According to a newspaper article about employment in Country J, 30.2 million workers, or 20.9% of the labor force of Country J, were union members. Which of the following equals the number of workers in millions in the labor force of Country J? A. (30.2)(20.9) B. (30.2)(0.209) C. 20.9 / 0.302 D. 30.2 / 20.9 E. 30.2 / 0.209 What is the equation for this? 4. Which of the following CANNOT be expressed as the product of exactly 2 consective integers? A. (2) (3) (7) B. (2) (3) (7) (11) C. (2) (5^2) (13) D. (2^2) (3) (5) (7) E. (3^2) (11) (13) I don't understand what this question is asking, nor the answer choices. Can someone explain? Thanks.
  11. Actually, for graph questions, I always draw the graph on the paper. However, this still does not answer my question. If you make up points for a and b, say where a = 2, and b = 2, then you will get 2 more points 2a = 4 2b = 4 4a= 8 So all the points would be (2,2), (4,4), (8,2). When you plot them, you get a regular triangle where any of the 3 sides could act as a base. Then, you will also get 3 different heights. So, how can you get a definitive base and height from this type of question?
  12. The questions I've been posting have been from Real10 korean tests, this one being the 10.6 test.
  13. BAIT A. perplex B. disarm C. delude D. release E. fortify The general definition of bait is to lure or entire, to harass someone or something. I picked B, with the idea that when you disarm, then you don't have anything that will be enticing or luring to another. But the answer is E. Can someone explain? Fortify means to build up, to make stronger. I don't understand how this is the antonym of bait. Thanks.
  14. Here is another one that I need help with: Far from undermining the impression of permanent decline, the ___ statue seemed emblematic of its ____ surroundings. A. indecorous...opulent B. grandoise...ramshackle C. pretentious...simple D. ungainly...elegant E. tawdry...blighted
