The answer is "any". A question from toefl success, rite? Certain and some are incorrect because of the meaning. The possible answers are A and B. I think it is B because the writer wants to emphasize that people, old and young alike, may suffer from defects of vision.

All of you guys are really lucky, believe me. Actually, I could not find my name on the list. They say that since the total number of the test-takers this time is so overwhelming that there is no room for me although i registered at the beginning of November. I cried a lot :(( cuz I worked really hard, preparing for this test and I dont want to take the IBT test. However, it is said that they may hold another PBP test for people like me in May. Still hoping.....

My friend has just taken the t est last saturday and she said that the listening section was much harder than usual:((. The first part which is known to be a short dialogue of 2 sentences, contains 5 or 6 sentences indeed. It was really horrible @pip love u: did you take the test on saturday? May be you were in the same room with my friend:D If I cannot get an over 600 toefl, it's very likely that i will be stuck in vietnamese uinversity and all my dreams will be blown off Sorry if my complaints disturb u guys, just passed a freaky day:((

Attending a live performance (for example, a play, a concert, pr supporting event) is more enjoyable than watching the same event on television. Work: Although there are many people who are ready to spend a great deal of time queueing up to get a ticket for a live performance, I prefer staying at home, watching the same event on television. What is safer, cheaper and more convenient than staying at your comfortable house and still enjoy the show? There is no doubt that watching the performance on TV is much more comfortable. You can sit back on your familiar sofa and have some favorite food to eat while watching the program. If you are tired, you may lie down on your nice and warm bed to have a rest but still be able to enjoy the show. You may even tune into other channels if the performance does not come up to your expectations. You absolutely enjoy yourself while watching the performance at home. Also watching the show on TV is safer. If you go to a live show, especially a rock concert, which is always chaotic and turbulent, you are likely to be pushed by a dense crowd and therefore get injured or even be robbed. There is no such fear when you watch the show at home because the only thing you have to do is turn on the TV when it starts and turn off when it finishes. Last but not least, staying at home and watch the performance on TV is cheaper. The cost for a live show is often considerable high. You will have to pay for not only for the ticket itself but also addttional fees such as parking. Expensive as it is, you may sometimes not enjoy the show because it is too crowded to get a good view for the stage. If you stay at home, all you have to spend on the show is time, which is also less than the amount of time you spend on the live show because there is no such time as getting to the place and returning home after the show. To sum up, because of the fact that watching the live performance is not as safe, comfortable and cheap as watching the same event on TV, I rarely go out for any live show. Thanks for reading. Although many people negate the role of marks in a student's study process, I believe that marks are among the most important motives that encourage students to study. Firstly, marks are the crucial standard to show a student's capability. In almost cases, the chance to get admission from a university of a student who have high GPA is bigger than the others. Therefore if a student wants to study in a high quality university in order to warrant for his future life, he will have to study diligently to strive for good marks. This means marks help students study harder. Secondly, marks create competitive enviroment in class. Often students study harder if they have a target such as their friends. Without marks, there will be nothing to evaluate student, also to show who is better than whom and students cannot set a target to try. Consequently, marks are needed to stimulate students to study. Lastly, marks help students' parents know how well their children are doing at school. If a student does not study hard, it often reflects in low marks. Through these marks, his parents will find a solution to the problem such as preventing him from many distracting things like TV or games in time and make him concentrate on his study more. Accordingly, marks encourage students to study indirectly. Basing on these reasons, I think there is no doubt that marks encourage students to study.

Parents have an important responsibilities during children progsess so they must be have good qualities such as a good listener, a good provider, and a good model. I would like to explain these points in the following way. To begin with, when children grow up, they have many problems and they want to share their problem with friends or parents. So parents should listen their children because ıf they behave insensitively when children want to talk about their problems, ıt may cause permanent damage over children. For example, they do not share school problems with parents anymore or they may deal with problems in a bad way. Next, another quality parents should have is that they should provide some things for children like (provide their children with such things as) clothes, food and shelter. Untill children earn their own money, a good parent should provide these needs for children. Additionally, the last quality is that parents should be good model for children. For example, they should not smoke cigarete, drink(what?) and use bad words around children otherwise children can take parens (as) their model and can have bad habits. So based on all the above metioned point, ı think parents posses some good qualities to be good parents. Three of the most important are being good listener, good provider and good model. Children grow up their parents (what do you mean??) and their qualities affect children’s future life

Hey guys, can you help me correct these sentences: 1. That these students have improved their grades because of their participation in the test review class. The most reasonable way is omit "the" but i found this sentence from a book: "That Mr.Jones is not prepared to teach this course is not doubted, however, at this late date it is not likely that we will be able to find a replacement." Which kind of structure is this?? 2. The President mentioned to the cabinet members he was going to negotiate a new treaty with the foreign minister. I think A is wrong but is "that" compulsory here: mentioned...that he was going to....?

@haohmaku: I still think the answer to question 2 is c The sounds, (used in human languages to create meaning), consist of small variations in air pressure, (that can be sensed by the car) Actually, putting commas here is wrong but I want to make the adj clause clearer.

a question from barron's: Farmers in all parts of Asia own their own farms, but tenant farmers are also practiced. I choose D but dunno how to correct it. Should I drop farmers or change tenant into its adjective form?:rolleyes:

Actually, i have read some sample essays scored 6 and they frequently use the same sentence for their body paragraphs. I just think it is a good way for the opening sentence and I imitate them:blush:
