For the second question, any of the statements would give the answer. So it is 'D'

(1) x > y + 2 > y so A is sufficient

 

(2) 2 + x > y means x > y-2.

Let's say x=y-1 then x>y-2 but we cannot conclude that x > y.

 

So with numbers:

if x=8, y=9

2+x> y as 2+8>9 and x

 

 

if x=10 and y= 9

2+x> y as 12>9 and x>y

 

B insufficient
