bluemartini
Is x odd? 1) 2x - 1 is odd 2) x^3 is odd Its confusing to me because of the fact that x could be a fraction, what do you guys think? I'll keep OA for lil later.
greycellz
s1: Insuff. since 2x will always be even for any x, 2x-1 will be odd for all x s2: Suff, since x^3 is odd only for all odd x (e.g. 3^3 is odd*odd*odd = odd) Hence B Note the ETS will always have logical questions - if it tells you to find whether x is odd, it will tell you that x is an integer/number etc.
bluemartini
I agree, OA was C which cannot be correct. The statement x^3 is odd necessarily implies that x is an integer, because there is nothing such as an odd or even fraction!! In fact I guess even in GMAT if the Q says x is odd we are expected to assume that x is an integer...

Don't worry you won't need to assume it. As Grey said, the GMAT will explicitly state that x is an interger (because the GMAT is better written than these questions written by test prep companies).
