Khilona Posted September 12, 2006 Share Posted September 12, 2006 You could draw a Venn diagram with circles A B and C making up each show. The intersection of 2 circles as X and M as the centre. Sum of all the 3 [two circle] intersections as 3X Given A+B+C = 750 Since total viewership = 600 A+B+C+3X+M = 600 If you look at the circles, A = 210-[2X+M] B = 240-[2X+M] C = 300-[2X+M] Combining, A+B+C+3X+M = 600 ==> 750-6X-3M+3X+M = 600 150 = 3X+2M Given 3X=108 So 42 = 2M M = 21 Hence Answer = D Don't think this can be simplified anymore Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
skarya Posted September 12, 2006 Share Posted September 12, 2006 AUBUC=A+B+C-(2 EXACTLY) - 2*(AnBnC) 100=35+40+50-18 - 2*(AnBnC) AnBnC=7/2 % = 3.5% = 600*3.5/100=21 answer = D Okay read your comment again... If one need to solve without formula then draw the V-diagram. Just keep it in % until the last moment else numbers could be confusing.
