effective_factor
The globalization of financial services companies has been a boon to money launders, because of allowing money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction to be transferred to a branch in a more regulated one. A) of allowing money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction to be transferred B) of allowing the transfer of money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction C) it allows that money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction is transferred D) it allows the transfer of money have been placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction E) it allows money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction to be transferred
Project700Plus
IMO E is the answer. A and B are out, use of because of D is out. have been is out of place C is out. allows that is incorrect
john333
IMO B... C,D and E are out as It has no logical referent. A passive

cartera
E is better because in GMAT verbs rule over nouns, then allows>allowing
mitzi
My pick is E too. allow (object) to verb. --> correct idiom. cartera, One of reason why 'because' fits better for this question is that because as a conjunction introduces a clause so that it makes more concise and clear for readers to understand. when you think about the difference between a clause and phrase, it makes it clear. A clause can express 'subject, verb, and verb tense', meanwhile a phrase can't provide these things clearly. That's why we prefer a clause to a phrase. (it also depends on the context too)
bmlaud
IMO options C,D,and E are out because they create a run on sentence. Use of beacause is justified to make a subordinate clause. option B correctly does that. Read the sentence this way.. Because of allowing the transfer of money placed in a bank in a less regulated jurisdiction to a branch in a more regulated one,the globalization of financial services companies has been a boon to money launders. gmatnov12
OA is E
atombomb_blast
I go with E the use of because of allowing .... is awkward and of can be replaced by pronoun it. Moreover the use of because introduces a clause and the use of pronoun is advisable.
