If the color selected is 0 (or 7), you have three choices for the adjacent pixels: 0, 1, 2 (or 5, 6, 7). If the color selected is 1 or 6, you have 4 choices: 0, 1, 2, 3 (or ...). Thus if the color selected is 2, 3, 4, or 5, you have 5 choices possible. Here's the complete list: 0 - 0 1 2 1 - 0 1 2 3 2 - 0 1 2 3 4 3 - 1 2 3 4 5 4 - 2 3 4 5 6 5 - 3 4 5 6 7 6 - 4 5 6 7 7 - 5 6 7 Therefore, 2*3 + 2*4 + 4*5 = 34. Answer is C.
