Hi everyone:) The last book I read was "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. The book is rather small and i got so into the story that I finished it in the very same day! Now I want to read "The Zahir" by Coelho as well. I've also been told it's an awesome one. Also, I see here there are many fans of Dan Brown! I have all the books published so far but have only read "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code", which I really enjoyed. Another author I enjoyed is Isabel Allende and Jose Luis Sampedro is a great writer, too. Forgot to add that I'm currently reading Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" but at times it bores me:rolleyes: I've read half of the novel already and I don't feel too eager to take the book and read when I have some free time. Anyway, it should be helping me with vocabulary!:p

Bscout, we have a right triangle, and we know the ratio of the smallest side to the largest is 2:3. We also know that the area of this triangle is 23. And we are asked to solve for the smallest side >>What is the length of the smallest side?? I agree with manish's answer, I just got the same >> x= sqrt[23/(sqrt 5)], and therefore 2x (smallest side)= 2*sqrt[23/(sqrt 5)] Dipen, you also gave a correct answer, but I think there's no need to solve the squareroots since normally in the GRE test they will give you the correct answer in sqrt terms:)

Hi again! Dipen, I have just checked to make sure I was not mistaken in the meaning of elite in english. I tend to take the meaning in spanish, as the origin of the word is the very same one, and that's not always a good idea:p But as the dictionary says 'Elite' means "the socially superior part of society", "the best of a class " or also "a group of persons who by virtue of position or education exercise much power or influence". it's in contrast with the original concept of "Democracy" in which the people, citizens, are supposed to govern the country.

Yes dipen, I think your bridge is better than the first one I gave. At least after so long someone gave a nice idea here:p And yet, nobody is posting the OA!!! Everyone here is asleep!! I think that for second question even if in reality an elite governs in democracy, the original meaning of the word implies that the people (or the majority) are the ones who govern the country. So it's opposite to 'elite'. The greek root "demos" means 'people'. Hope this helps:)

Hi Michael, I would rather go for B, for the same reason you gave. But I must say my first reaction was choosing A, since the bridge suits perfect, i think. Still have my doubts and no one gave the OA yet:whistle:

I also think answer can only be C. options A and B simply don't fit; same with E. 'Oration' means 'an elaborate discourse delivered in a formal and dignified manner', which could suit here. But "literary oration" just doesn't sound nice to me. Also, as milmerry pointed out, 'grandiloquence' is kind of synonimous to 'oration' and then in the phrase it makes no sense. However, "literary genre" sounds correct and "a very strict form" certainly leaves space for "very little deviation";)

Hi Mukta! It all depends on what score you're required to access your course, your math background and your level of english. It would be tough preparing in just one month but well, nothing is impossible:tup: . Anyway, couldn't you postpone the exam?? Why not giving yourself 2-3 months in total to prepare instead? Have you taken a sample test to check your level? If you haven't, I'd suggest you do it ASAP and evaluate your level and preparation required. Think cool and schedule yourself accordingly;) Best of luck!
