  1. Investment banks often have conflicting roles. They sometimes act for a client company by raising capital from other investment institutions as advantageously as possible, but their analysts also sometimes send unfavorable reports on the financial health of companies for whom they are raising capital to other clients who wish to make investments. Analyses of companies’ financial health need to be unbiased if an investment bank is to achieve long-term success. If the statements above are true, which of the following practices, if adopted by an investment bank, would hinder its long-term success? A. Evaluating and rewarding the bank’s analysts on the basis of recommendations made by managers who are solely engaged in raising capital for clients B. Using reports by the investment bank’s analysts to determine how best to raise capital for a client C. Sharing the task of raising capital for a client with other investment banks D. Ensuring that conflicts between analysts and those who raise capital for clients are carefully mediated and resolved by impartial arbitrators E. Monitoring the success or failure of analysts’ current predictions about how companies will perform financially, in order to determine the value of future predictions
  2. imo D . real voice of people - people can voice for out-town news too , In choice B , more pages for out of town news can actually mean Dialy clarion is best as they convey the real voice of people of gotham even for out of town news . the main accusation here is the owner is OUT OF TOWN person . Refute the acusation . they stayed in town for 10 yrs or more proves tat OUT OF town identity is not valid . My vote for D .

  11. Its a little confusing here !! B and C is very close choice . Lets put it up with the help of maths . interest; assuming a simple interest to avoid confusion Si =PNR/100 Amount =P -SI Paraphrase:Si was calculated wrong. no.O.C clients =no.U.C clients . So profit unaffected . In choice B ;negate B --> Interest rate ® is assumed different for all its clients then also the profit may remain same . The error cud have been in P and thus the total amount of the two groups nullifies. In choice C ; wrong SI ; No of O.C , No of U.C clients same . But wat happens to the total final amount of the two groups? animesh thanks for ur example .
  12. imo B .. Just stopped at choice B ..Didnt read further .. -Assumption:Only if both teh carton powder are same then we can come to a valid conclusion tat carton colour is making a difference in consumer's perception of a effective product .

  15. Damming the Merv River would provide irrigation for the dry land in its upstream areas; unfortunately, a dam would reduce agricultural productivity in the fertile land downstream by reducing the availability and quality of the water there. The productivity loss in the downstream area would be greater than the productivity gain upstream , so building a dam would yield no overall gain in agricultural productivity in the region as a whole. The reasoning in the argument above most closely parallels that in which one of the following? (A) disease-causing bacteria in eggs can be destroyed by overcooking the eggs, but the eggs then become much less appetizing; health is more important than taste, however, so it is better to overcook eggs than not to do so. (B) Increasing the price of transatlantic telephone calls will discourage many private individuals from making them. But since most transatlantic telephone calls are made by businesses, not by private individuals, a rate increase will not reduce telephone company profits. © A new highway will allow suburban commuters to reach the city more quickly, but not without causing increased delays within the city that will more than offset any time saved on the highway. Therefore, the highway will not educe suburban commuters’ overall commuting time. (D) Doctors can prescribe antibiotics fro many minor illnesses, but antibiotics are expensive, and these illnesses can often be cured by rest alone. Therefore, it is better to rest at home than to see a doctor for these illnesses. (E) A certain chemical will kill garden pest that damage tomatoes, but that chemical will damage certain other plants more severely than the pests damage the tomatoes, so the only garden that will benefit from the use of the chemical are those in which only tomatoes are grown.
