  2. REPROVE:REPRIMAND ::PERSUADE:CONVINCE Reprove & Reprimand are synonym variant both means to condemn & admonish similarly Persuade & Convince are cause to do something through reasoning or argument. -Sonali
  3. I am back from test center, happilly, cheerfully, etc etc :) I was targetting for 720 but exceeded the target by a healthy margin. I am so much thankful to everyone on this forum. Without this forum, I would not have scored 750. I will write a debrief soon and try to give back as much as I can to TM. Till then sayonara, bye-bye. Let me enjoy, yaar... Wo Hoooo.
  4. Finished. I am extremely happy :) I got 750 (Q51, V40). Thanks a ton to everybody on this forum. I will write a debrief once I am out of hangover.
  5. 800Bob, Today is my test and in the warm-up test, before I leave from home for test centre, I got this question incorrect. I used to respect your understanding of verbal but your response to this question has increased that respect. This response gives an insight of what to do when you are facing questions in the scoring range from 750 to 800. Let me memorize this... Look for exceptions.
  6. Regarding GMATPrep, an outstanding question that whether questions refresh if we re-download the software is not a mystery, at least in my mind. GMATPrep stores list of questions for a particular practice test in a file and timestamp of the package and file reveals that no new versions of this software's package was released by ETS after 6-Dec-2005. So, if anyone downloaded the software before 6-Dec-2005 then most likely he will find some different questions in new version. I am 99% convinced about it. Some people often doubt whether GMATPrep is really adaptive. I can only say that again I am 99% convinced that it is adaptive based upon my understanding of the software. I hope that I am not violating any rule here because these are claims based upon material which is available to general public.
  7. Very good explanation. Just added something about choice B because people tend to pick B as answer but it is a tough question and we need to have layered thinking in those questions. Think once and then think again about all eliminated choices because most common choices are often incorrect in difficult questions. The way I understand that B is wrong : Conclusion : ... discovery should give geologists a test case for evaluating hypothese about the state of the Earth's crust at the time these naturally occurring fullerenes were formed... Evidence : Although fullerenes-spherical molecules made entirely of carbon-were first found in the laboratory, they have since been found in nature... Now B states that some fullerenes was also found on the remains of a meteorite. So B does not disagree with the evidence that fullerenes was found on earth as well, as stated in last line. Also, there is no impact on conclusion which states that the finding of fullerenes will help in finding the state of earth at that time. In a way, B strengthens the argument by stating that fullerenes was also found on remains of a meteorite and hence it is present in nature. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-critical-reasoning/50259-can-gmac-make-mistake.html

  10. Well... Here I am. Another person who is writing his GMAT in early August, tomorrow -- 1:15 PM. Now, I am getting nervous. Hope this forum and this mail help. Seems I am going for my social science paper in annual exam of class 8. God only knows whether Fundamental Rights or Fundamental Duties will be asked :) The biggest problem is my irritation for Quants. I have scored consistently 49-51 in almost all the tests but then I have also faced hardest of questions, which has left me irritated. The first reaction upon seeing a hard question is- Oh no. Not again - and hence I do not re-check. Come on, put your act together. GMAT verbal has always been a problem for me, being an Indian and educated in Hindi Medium in Bihar, but I tried my best. I do not hope to get anything less than 35, though I have scored upto 45 in GMATPrep but where are you my confidence? Overall, I need to get 720+. In GMATPrep I managed to get 770 and 750. I lost my concentration in second test because of quant. Questions were difficult, very difficult, mostly arithmetic, which I fear because of Arithmetic's potential of making soft dismissals. Arithmetic forces you to commit a mistake. In powerprep, I got 770 and 770 -- questions were of moderate difficulty level in test 2 whereas questions were easy in test 1. I got 650 and 680 in two tests of Manahattan GMAT. I have not yet given third test - will decide in the afternoon. I got 680, 720, 760, 800, 780, 730, 730, 690 in eight ETS paper tests. Pretty long. That's it. If I get a score of 720+, I will try to write a good debrief, which will mostly help people in verbal since I did not really prepare for quant, with the enthusiasm after getting THE score and the experience I got in last three months. Oh, come on -- If I remember after sooo many years that there are six rights and ten duties, I will have all the SC rules handy tomorrow. Are you back my confidence?
  11. Krazie_Tori, look at Erin's answer... http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-sentence-correction/5164-superficial-2.html
  12. For others, who may have similar questions as Saurabh has - It is easy to understand with examples, Each of the boys plays cricket. -- Here each is singular. They each play cricket. -- Here each is plural. Usage of each in second sentence is an exception condition. Except this particular scenario, each is always singular, at least in all GMAT prep books, softwares etc.
