  1. Yesterday, I talked with one of the professors in top 25 program who I know personally. 2 months ago, he had told me that my chance to be accepted is very high so I should certainly apply. However, yesterday he told me that my application was rejected although official decision was not rendered. When I asked him the weakness of my application, he said that: your academic backgorund, math courses, GPA, GMAT were all adequate to be accepted. However, this year is an exceptional year and applications were more than excellent. Since one program only accepts 2-3 students, it is really to hard to get in.
  2. Nopatience, do you know whether USC and UCLA have already made interviews? Did they say anything about that? Or do I simply increase my counter of the rejections?
  3. 5 Minutes ago I got my official rejection from Boston College..
  4. I also applied Duke,Yale, Northwestern and Boston College all PhD in Finance. I want to be optimistic about my applications, but I haven't heard anything up to now and I actually started to wait for the rejections. Duke's application deadline was 15 December. Taking into account that LBS's deadline was 8 January and sent the interviews 20 days ago, probably Duke and Northwestern (31 December) may have sent the interview - but this is totally my perspective-. Although differents schools have different number of applications and different procedures, I think top schools should have more in common in this process. NOTE: LBS secretary said that the status of LBS applications (rejections) will be sent by the early March.
  5. I am in Europe and I wasn't invited. Then, I have already been rejected, too. Hopes for the remaining 13 applications:)
  6. I want to ask whether the interview dates with international applicants and domestic applicatans differ? For example, since LBS makes interview in London, it is possible that the priority may be for the UK residents (travel granting for international students may be expensive). Nicowickey, do you know whether the interview on next Monday for the domestic or international students?
  7. First MIT and now Boston College seems to be gone. Did I miswrite my telephone number and my e-mail number in my application:)) Why don't they call me for the interview:)) Anyway, do you know about the profiles of the interviewed people in MIT and Boston College? Do they have already a PhD, or do they have a madal in international math/physics Olimpiads, what are their GMAT? etc..
  8. Did Duke Finance finish all the interviews? I applied there and I understand that it is over although I didn't get any formal rejection letter..
  9. I think you have to wait in front of the computer because you'll probably get an e-mail for interview in a few days from IvY League..
  10. Is LSE giving scholarship to almost all students? As far as I could understand from its website, very limited scholarship opportunities are available. Also, if I don't misremember, one of my friends was accepted but wasn't awarded any scholarship. In LBS, situation is different, they have good scholarship opportunities. However, it is quite tough to get admittance from LBS.

  12. Actually, it is quite tough to get a scholarship from UK schools. For example, Cass School last year didn't award any scholarship in Finance. However, application is free so why don't you try?
  13. I could not understand you correctly. However, I think you ask about the first entrance to GMAT. It was about 1.5 months ago and I got 520 (q:49, v:16(or sth like that)) Or r u asking about what I mean by huge diffence? well, I was stressing that I just sucked from verbal though math was good. It was one of the lowest verbal score I've ever heard. During 1.5 month period I haven't also solved any math tests and have always solved verbal. Verbal was really depressing. In the previous massage what I wrote by PP was essentially GmatPrep. GP1- 650 (i had seen some questions from OG) GPP2- 680 ("")
  14. Congratulations dude. My first attemp was 520 one month ago and today I made my second attemp and got 610. I hope third becomes just as yours. Waiting for the clues..
  15. I do not know if there is one more human being got the same comedy result with me (q 51, V 21 !!! What a difference). In some parts of the quantity part the questions started to be really hard and when I passed the verbal part, i was really tired. However, whatever the reason verbal shouldn't be so bad. For the top schools, I have to retake the exam. However, i do not know if they give bad credit for entering more than one time (Because when I retake it, it will be my 3rd entrance). My scores: PP1- 650 (i had seen some questions from OG) PP2- 680 ("") Princeton - 630 Manhattan 1- 610 Manhattan 2- 630

  17. Traces of cultivated emmer wheat have been found among the earliest agricultural remains of many archeological sites in Europe and Asia. The only place where the wild form of emmer wheat has been found growing is a relatively narrow strip of southwest Asia. Since the oldest remains of cultivated emmer wheat yet found are from village sites in the same narrow strip, it is clear that emmer wheat was first domesticated somewhere in that strip. Which of the following, if, true, most strengthen the arguerment? A) The present-day distribution of another wild wheat, einkon, which was also domesticated early in the development of agriculture, covers a much larger area of southwest Asia. B) Modern experiments show that wild emmer wheat can easily be domesticated so as to yield nearly as well as traditionally domestic strains. C) At the time when emmer wheat was first cultivated, it was the most nutritious of all the varieties of grain that were then cultivated. D) In the region containing the strip where wild emmer wheat has been found, climatic conditions have changed very little since before the development of agriculture. E) It is very diffucult, without genetic testing, to differentiate the wild form of emmer wheat from a closely related wild wheat that also grows in southwest Asia. Thanks for your explanations in the answer..
  18. Correct choice is A. "As a means to" is the correct usage.
  19. Correct choice is A. "As a means to" is the correct usage.
  20. In this question, I would go with C. However, is the usage of "were" in the clause "only 36 percent of the nation's 607 HMO's were" true? I mean mustn't we use "was" instead of "were". I think i read somewhere that we have to use singular verb with percantage. However, i am not sure about that. if i am wrong, i would be happy if you can correct me.
  21. Someone in this forum wrote about the wrong questions in 1000 SC. So, I only looked for some of the questions that are also in official guide to test the truth of the answers. And out of 20 try about 4 of them were wrong. As one of them I remember from the beginning of the test: Q2: (Now, i am also making a project so I can't write all of them. I only wanted to warn everybody to be careful on that) 2.
