I agree with you partially.If it's some hardcore criminal, I am sure he/she would procure firearms one way or the other. But in most shootings in schools/colleges/univs, it is one of the students/youth that is usually the accused. And I feel in those cases a lot can be prevented if the access to guns is not so easy.

This is really sad news. I just wish it wasn't so easy to buy guns here.It's time something is done abt it.

Hey Guys, Now that the decisions have been made, I just thought of getting to know those who are joining Columbia. Is everyone planning to attend Math Camp? I don't think I will.

I am not from the US and I have not seen women being so obsessed with makeup, hair, shoes and bags in my home country as in the US! dunno what it's like in Europe, but US women definitely do spend a significant amount of time and energy on trying to look good! I was shocked to see so many salons dedicated just for Nails when i came here!!

I got an email from Debraj Ray. He told me that they are done with their admissions for this year and that I should go ahead and accept one of my other offers. So, I am going to Columbia in that case. It's such a relief to know finally!!

I have heard that both Debraj Ray and Lizzeri have been made offers by Yale. Dunno if they are moving though. Also, someone told me tht Dilip Abreu might be moving to NYU from Princeton.

I have visited Columbia. But not NYU. So, I dont have any way to compare personal impressions. Colubia faculty seems quite helpful, esp the junior ones. But no clue abt NYU. I have spoken to a few students at NYU though. They seem to feel Columbia might be a better place for Dev.
