  1. Erin, your explanation seems to be in line with 'B', why 'C'. B shows that you are not believing something because you feel it is wrong.
  2. D is correct. There is no argument over the definition of democracy, but how it is being interpreted. Although colleges are imposing restrictions and attribute it to 'democracy', in its true sense democracy portrays freedom of speech. So there is a contradiction in an opposing view.
  3. I was going to post the same question. Although the answer says 'C', i would rather go with B. The argument suggests that since A believes vaccine is not effective, he ignores the results of any study and carries on with his belief. Which looks more parallel and in conjunction with 'B'. Any ideas ?
  4. Thanks for your comments David. I really appreciate your inputs. Rusty.
  5. 1. Identical twins tend to have similar personalities; if environment outweighs heredity in personality development, twins raised together should presumably have more similar personalities than those raised apart. A recent study of identical twins in both situations measured 11 key traits through a questionnaire, and concluded that 7 of the 11 are primarily products of heredity. Which of the following, if established, would cast the most doubt on the study’s results? (A) Fewer than half of the pairs of twins studied were raised separately. (B) The ages of all of the twins studied fell within a 10-year range. © Some of the traits that the study attributed to heredity developed in the separately raised twins because those pairs all grew up in similar families. (D) Although over half the traits measured were determined to be linked to heredity, the nature of those traits varied widely. (E) The 11 traits that were measured constitute a representative sample of larger, generally accepted pool of key personality traits. 2. When people predict that certain result will not take place unless a certain action is taken, they believe that they have learned that the prediction is correct when the action is taken and the result occurs. On reflection, however, it often becomes clear that the result admits of more than one interpretation. Which of the following, if true, best supports the claims above? (A) Judging the success of an action requires specifying the goal of the action. (B) Judging which action to take after a prediction is made requires knowing about other actions that have been successful in similar past situations. © Learning whether a certain predictive strategy is good requires knowing the result using that strategy through several trials. (D) Distinguishing a correct prediction and effective action from an incorrect prediction and ineffective action is often impossible. (E) Making a successful prediction requires knowing the facts about the context of that prediction.

  8. Greetings: I went across your wonderful suggestions to aspirants and hope that you would take some time to resolve my query. My Profile: 1. Computer Engineer from India, GPA (3.3), Top 15% of my class, consistently good at academics (if not excellent) 2. Overall experience of 4.5 years experience till date in IT (which would be 5 by the time I get into a B-School :D) Working with one of biggest Indian IT majors, and consulting for a Fortune 15 US insurance company in Midwest, WI. 3. Close to 2 years of international work experience in the US. 4. Pursuing FLMI Level 1 Certification (LOMA Insurance Certification, would complete this before applying). Appreciable Insurance Domain Knowledge. 5. GMAT Score - 650 (Q49, V28). 6. Good extracurricular track record at the company, college. 7. I am awaiting my AWA scores. I know I will score atleast 5.0 on them. I did pretty good on that. I have been good at english, but my verbal scores were screwed up in the GMAT. I have been primarily looking at applying for One Year MBA (I know I don't have an undergraduate business degree). Now questions on which I need your assistance; 1. Should I reappear for the GMAT. I need to apply for fall this year, so I think it would be a hasty decision to just reappear. 2. Would my experience considered a positive to compensate for the average verbal score in my GMAT. Would AWA be considered if et all ? 3. What universities should I look to apply at. I was looking at Pepperdine, Thunderbird etc, but am confused. I also don't want to go for a full-fledged 2 year MBA. Something like a 15-Month MBA with a 3-Month internship is what I am looking at. 4. How strongly should I project my depth and breadth of experience in order to get into a top B-School, so that the AdCom evaluates my experience with my score evenly. My interests are in consulting and global business/enterpreneurship. Would you help me in providing any info on which schools I should apply to considering all this information. Hope to hear from you soon. If you could reply inline to the above points, that would be great. Thanks ! Rusty.
