  1. Hi All, Those of you having UC-San Diego as your final destination, please reply here. It'll help if we know each other for various issues like Visa, housing in San Diego and so on. http://www.edulix.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
  2. Hi Abhishek, Have got an admit from UCSD too. Nice to meet you on these forums. Could you send me a private message with your email id?
  3. @w_guy: Thanks for your wishes! @MDK: Am sure you'll get a similar or even better admit. Good luck. BTW, could you send me a private message with the contact info of the IITian who got in too?
  4. Hi all, Got an MS admit offer from the CSE department at UC-San Diego! I'm very relieved as this turned out to be my first admit. Thanks a lot to TestMagic (especially to CalmLogic) for various inputs that proved valuable during my application process. The email is silent on financial aid. The website says tuition + cost of living could be upwards of $36,000/year. Is this comparable to other US universities of similar standing? How can I explore my financial aid options now? Appreciate your replies! PS: Looking forward to know other UCSD admits through this forum :)
  5. Hi all, I faxed the Additional Score Report (ASR) form to the number given in the GRE site. Is there any Acknowledgment/Receipt from ETS for this? As in, do they fax back to me that they have received my request? I had posted this in other forums too, but none replied :( Anyone who has faxed too, please reply!

  8. Hey, have a minor query. Yesterday, soon after I heard my scores over phone, my mind was pretty messed up. Couldn't hear the next question which followed immediately properly. I faintly recollect it as "Do you want to report the scores" or something like that. It gave me two options: 1 and 9. I didn't know what to press and pressed 9. Now am a bit worried as to what the question was. Does anyone remember? Please clarify this point. Thanks!
  9. My friend had a problem too. I think the trick is to call from landline and not mobile. I dunno what sense it makes but it works!
  10. Hi, Been a bit of a setback to my application in the form of CS-AGRE. Got the scores through phone. It's 760, 61%ile http://www.kaaledge.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif My confidence is at an all-time low and just don't know how to react to this score. Would I be better off not reporting to universities? Lemme know.
  11. Thank you! I'll have to call only later (after 6AM EST) BTW, your score is fantastic. Keep it up. Wish I was in your place ;) Vikram
  12. Hey, can anyone confirm that the Nov 3rd test scores are available on phone now? I am from India, and it costs me just to call and then get a "not available" message from ETS. Thanks, Vikram
  13. Hello, I know this doubt is silly, but has been bothering me a bit. So, decided to put it across. It's always advisable to send photocopy of GRE/TOEFL scores to the universities, even when they mention that they accept only official ETS scores. I have decided to attach photocopies with every application, no matter what's on the site. Unfortunately, the four institutions I had assigned as recipients are glaringly visible on the card. I fear this would work against me, when it comes to awarding decisions. Can't imagine a safe school seeing the name of Stanford (which is sadly my first university on both GRE and TOEFL cards!) http://www.kaaledge.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Are any of you facing the same dilemma? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Is it best to ignore the thought? Replies are much appreciated, Vikram

  15. Hello all, Background: I took CS GRE in Bangalore on Nov 3, which went off decently. I am applying for MS/PhD in CS for the Fall 2008. The earliest I get to know my score (through phone, of course) is Dec 5th. I feel it's too late for me to keep my applications on hold without submitting, since most of my deadlines are on Dec 15th. My dilemma is best described by this question in Georgia Tech application form: Have you taken a GRE Subject Test? Yes No If yes, which subject test did you take? Computer Science Mathematics Physics Psychology Other Date taken or to be taken: (mm/yyyy) Score: (raw) (%) Question: Should I put "Yes"/"No"? "Yes" and NOT sending scores later will tell them that I've got a bad score, which might affect my otherwise good chances. "No" would mean I can't send even if I get a good score. While I am fairly confident of getting a decent score (800+) going by the way the test went, I wouldn't want to risk mentioning about CS GRE before getting to know the scores myself. I believe many of you (in India) are facing the same tricky question. What should I do? Or rather, what are you doing? In anticipation of your reply, Vikram
  16. Awesome, the list is(!). The gist I gather after a quick browse is that most universities recommend AGRE-CS but are careful enough not to make it mandatory. Which also means that the universities may judge the seriousness of an applicant depending on whether he has taken that extra pain of a test which is not mandatory. Is my take on this correct? - Vikram
