I'm not sure the precise definition of it, I bet Erin, and some guys here can give you perfect definition. However, after I read many solutions for the grammar questions here and in some TOEFL books, I found that transitive/intransitive verbs are very common. Here is my understaning of them. transitive verb need something to complete its idea (well, you can think of object, and a clause acts as object, ie. complements). e.g. I like basketball. here, "like" cannot work without a noun, basketball. it is transitive verb. but sometimes, verb can work well without complements e.g. I run. (of course, you can say, "I run on a road", but "on a road" is just modifiers of the clause, not necessary) Therefere, "primarily indicates of" should be something like "primarily indicates xxx" where xxx is a complement or noun. Guys, am I right? Please give comments.
