no, there is no problem with funding... everyone addmited got it.

Stony Brook is not That bad.... it is Ok- like a safe school :) And anyway you could reapply next year. I am currently in Stony Brook and reapplying this year (but not because i do not like the university :) ... i just want to change major). And as far as I know Stony Brook is a good school "for reapplying" :)

Did you ever work in any NGO ? do you know how it works ? what are they doing ? If yes- then do you like it ? If you do know for sure what you want to do - then go to SIPA or SAIS .... if not then go to econ. I am now in Econ phd program, but now will reapply to SIPA or SAIS..... because this summer I was kind of working in one NGO and realize that it is what i want to do and i do not want to spend 4 years studying what i do not want. But if you are not sure then go to MA in econ.... during MA you could take classes in polsci..... and then you will see what you want to do..... and transfer or then go to phd in SIPA or SAIS.... and with MA in econ you will find a job in NGO. (My problem is that what i want to do is really far from econ :( )

How bad is your GPA ? I do not htink that somebody could have a problem in admission in SUNY Stony Brook (I am now a phd student there).Do you have a degree in economics ?

How "not good" is your GRE. If it is really below avarage it is not good :( if it is avarage -it is OK

I want to apply to another major. to asianeconomist : but i do plan to say that i am studying now in my university , but at the time of deadline i could not send them my grades (i will not even have them by that time)- i could send them the list of courses that i am taking....... but i know that in the same situation some people send transcripsts After the deadline. My question- it possible not to send them after the deadline, but send only "courses in progress" before the deadline.

Hello.I am a phd student (first year), but I plan to reapply this year. For some reasons I do not want to send transcripts from my current university while applying. And actually I even will not have them (because deadline in the university where I want to apply is before my finals). How do you think is it possible to send only transcripts from my BS and MS ?

But if it will be "not that good" it could ruin my application ? (i mean is the writing sample That important, or not very good sample is just like for example GPA not 4.0, but 3.7 ) ?

Thank you Demisel for your answer :) You think that writing sample is not that important ? Do you know where i coild find the example of writing sample for polsci (i did not have that major so i have no idea how it should look like :) )

Pls. could you help me finding a school to apply:hmm: I am from Europe (actually Russia :) ) BS+MS in Social and economics geography of foreign countries (GPA 3.4, but great rec, saying that in my university it was not important) MS in Math and comp.science (best student in class - 100 people) Both in the best university in my country. A lot of research expirience on field (field studies- both in Russia and international). Now i am a phd in economics student in US (quite good university), but i want to change my phd major Can you suggest me where to apply ? and where i do not need writing sample.... (i have a problem with that since i am not from US) I really need your advise :)

As far as i understand a lot of american undergrads are doing "independant research" and then tell about it in CV and SOP. What does this "independent research" mean ? and "how" to say about it in CV or SOP. I am an international and we also conducted some independent research at school, and i just want to know if it is the same....

How much time did it usually take (I mean really in hours :)) ? And how much time do you usually meet you professor ? I know that this question sounds stupid but I plan to do RA for a prof. from another university far from mine and i need to decide if it is possible during my first year. (i will need to drive 2 hours to get there)

Are summer schools in CV helpful . I do not mean for LOR , but only like "stated in CV". Particular - summer school in development in the "after war" country. (because it is in "after war" country there are no well known or even american prof.)
