  1. As per your currnet performance on OG test & Princeton, you score is around 620. Please take care it may not reflect your actual perofrmance on T day as lot of factors are invloved. (1) Your luck and presence of mind. pls be cool on that day (2) Almost all the questions you will get, will be new one. Pls don't repeat silly mistakes there specially in DS & SC.
  2. Dear Bd, Pls don't be nervous, sometimes unxpected used to happen in everyone's life. I feel the reason may be while attempting mock test, you might have got the same questions or questions already familiar to you, that could not reflect the performance in actual situation when all the problems are new. I need one advise from you. While going through the OG 11 Maths, I found the questions too simple and easy. Is the difficulty level same in real GMAT test? Regards, Mukesh
  3. Attached herewith is the simple calculation sheet. This is a very basic tool and can be used for getting an idea while fixing your priority in Verbal & Quant section to get the targeted score. Regrads, Mukesh
  4. In Q, there are 37 questions out of which about 7-8 problems are experimental questions and not counted in score. In V, there are 41 questions out of which about 10-11 problems are experimental questions and not counted in score. These ecxperimental questions can be anywhere in the section. On the D day, you may be lucky even if your answer for a no. of questions are wrong, but you are not much affected as the majority of these questions are expeimental type. :grad: GMAT CAT is complex algorithm. I would like to quote the following for better understanding of this algorithm. “Then there is the scoring system. Not all questions count equally. This is because the jumps in score are more extreme at the beginning of each section. In fact, two test takers can get the same number of questions right but have very different scores. Here's how it works: Total scores on the CAT range from 200 to 800. The first question in each section is worth 80 to 100 points. You start each section with a score of 500, so if you get that first question right, your score goes up to about 600; if you get it wrong, your score goes down to about 400. The second question is worth 60 to 70 points. This means that if you get the first two questions on a section right, you're looking at a score of about 670, but if you get the first two wrong, you've got a paltry 330. Here's the odd part: If you get the first question right and the second wrong, you've got a 530, but if you get the first one wrong and the second one right, you've got a 470. The relative weighting of questions affects your score that quickly. Of course, the scoring gets more complex as you answer more questions, but in general, after the first five questions of a section, you're just fine-tuning your score. If you answer the first five questions correctly, you'll be working at a level well above 700. If you get the first five wrong, you're well below 300 and will likely get easy questions for the rest of the exam -- the kiss of death on the CAT. You can recover from answering a few early questions wrong, but you'll need to get a long string of questions right, as later questions are worth less.”

  6. Guys, http://www.www.urch.com/forums/just-finished-my-gmat/images/icons/icon2.gif Targeting 750+ Dear Friends, I have tried to summarised the scores from this forum for analysis. This will help in fixing the target to get 750+. Though CAT uses complex algorithm to grade the individual's performance, we can assume that getting 48-51 in quant and 46-51 in verbal will be sufficient to achieve 750+ in GMAT. for 700+, q(40-44) & V(40-44) performance will be enough. Below is the summarised data. Waiting for your comments. Regards, Mukesh In my previous post, table format is not uploaded properly. Below is the data: S Q V 790 50 51 780 50 51 770 51 44 760 50 44 760 50 44 760 50 41 760 49 47 760 49 46 760 49 44 750 50 42 750 50 41 750 50 41 750 49 42 740 49 41 740 49 41 740 47 44 730 44 47 720 50 38 720 49 40 720 49 40 720 47 42 720 42 47 710 50 35 710 49 38 710 49 38 710 49 38 710 48 38 700 51 33 700 50 34 700 49 36 700 49 35 700 44 41 700 40 40 700 35 49 700 35 49 690 50 31 690 44 40 690 37 47 680 50 31 680 35 48 670 48 34 670 47 35 670 47 35 660 48 32 640 50 27 640 49 28 640 47 32 630 41 35 610 44 34 600 49 24 600 46 27 600 46 27 600 28 44 590 43 28 580 38 32 560 47 21 560 46 22 490 33 17 430 33 17

  8. Hi guys, I have found a good link that give quite a good ides about the socre calculated by GMAC. Have a look on it. http://www.mbajungle.com/main.cfm?chID=0&schid=0&inc=INC_article.cfm&artid=152&template=4&pg=2
  9. Dear Bronx. Congrats. you really rock specially verbal.
  10. Thanks for your prompt response and particularly for your encourgament. I am determind to do well in GMAT and target 700+. Quant is my strong point. I have bits of problems in DS but I can improve as most of the mistakes are becoz of being careless. Verbal: Again a tough one for me. But I have a scope for improvement as I am able to eliminate three out of five choices mostly but select worng out of remaining two. On the time side, I am not paying attention as of now. Once I get confidence on attempting the question correctly. i will work on it. All I have to do is within next five weeks. I had a bit of problem as right now, being in Sri Lanka, there is no much material avaialble in bookstores. Can I ask any of my friends to purchase the material from india like manhatthan & ARCO AWA BOOK while coming to Sri lanka. Is the material available in India? Thanks again. Mukesh
  11. Hi guys, There are lot of acheivers posting their great scores on this forum. I am not able to corelate the meaing of socre i.e. 780 (Q50 - 95 Percentile and V51 - 99 percentile) What do Q50 and V51 mean? As all know, there are 41 questions in quant as well in verbal. Out of these 9 to 11 questions are for experimental purpose and do not carry marks? Suppose I got 70% correct in quant & verbal sections and assume that I attempted easy, medium and difficulty level question equally good and did not make any mistake in the first five questions. What score I will get at the end? Your advise pls. Thanks, Mukesh
  12. Hi Guys, Congrats to all the acheivers. I recently joined this forum and found it to be very useful. I started preparing for GMAt about 3 weeks back. Being a working guy, I am hardly able to devote sufficient time for preparation. The reference materials, i am using are as follows: PR- Cracking GMAT 2006 (purchased by me) Kaplan High score 2005 (downloaded from this forum) OG 10 & 11 (downloded with the help of test magic) PR Verbal workout- (old version, downloaded) Manhatthan SC -(old version, downloaded) Power prep software I am trying to find ARCO AWA GMAT-CAT essays reference but till now no success. There are lots of acheivers here on the forum who are requested to please guide me whether i am on right track or not. After completing PR Cracking GMAT, I suppose I am near 600 and can imporve a lot as most of the mistakes I commit are silly in nature. Such mistakes are there in easy as well as difficulty questions and are in both quant as well as verbal sections. But I am not able to improve significantly. It is requested to advise how to improve from this points. Being from India, I feel I am traditonally strong in quant and for verbal, I require lot of hard work. Thanks, Mukesh
