Is Berkeley that bad? It is always ranked top 5 in almost every 'ranking literature..'

I was admitted to top 10 Econ program this march but deferred entrance until 2008 fall semester due to personal reasons. And I resumed my current masters coursework. But as my research interest is narrowed, I am increasingly interested in another school which is slightly upper ranked but rejected me this march. Will the admit history to one school help me to get into another school?

Will LORs from emeritus professor and lecturer make little impact on my application than professors from Econ Dept?? :hmm:

If you are asking admission offer out of waitlist, I saw one 'out of waitlist into Brown' at GradCafe few weeks ago. It was posted, though, that (s)he was waitlisted for financial aid.. I've read at Brown's website they guarantee 5-year financial aid to all incoming Ph.D students. I think if your friend is admitted but waiting to be funded, (s)he may not to be worried..

UPenn admitted me to their program three weeks ago. Grad secretary emailed me admission offer with some info about the program.. There was info about withdrawl rate of previous years.. Interesting(or horrifying?) fact was 9 out of 29 people withdrawled 2005~6 year..(almost 30%??) Before then, mere 2~3 peoples withdrawed from the program.. Does this mean UPenn implemented harsh cutoff policy like Chicago or wisconsin? Even though UPenn is my top choice, this fact makes me uneasy to choose her.. Can anybody who participate in the visiting day(28 Mar) ask Penn about this policy? Because I'm international, I cannot attend the meeting..

There are a bunch of admissions to Paris School of Economics posted at GradCafe.. Newspaper says the school was launched to compete with Anglo-Saxon's way of economics.. But I cannot even find its website.. Anybody knows about the school???

I want to stay calm until receiving result... But I unconsciously log on here instantly..:-(

No.. I haven't heard of it.. But I heard INSEAD and ESSEC business school in Paris are good schools.. Is there anybody who can comment about INSEAD and ESSEC?
