  1. GMATbong, Thanks for your inputs.. I applied last year for ChicagoGSB. They kept me on waitlist for a month and then rejected. Since then, due to some other personal commitments I did not apply anywhere else. I am applying again this year. I have few questions as follow, 1. As on today, Apart from my IT experience, I have around 2.5 years of Pharmaceutical experience in Regulatory Affairs IT solutions, so, I am considering leveraging on this experience and applying for a top notch pharma or healthcare mba program like the one at wharton and kellogg. Do you think that this is a good & fair strategy? I am not glued to the idea of doing an MBA in finance only. Any MBA which enhances my current position & knowledge is okay for me. So, I am considering MBA in pharma or healthcare. 2. Also, will obtaining a recognized certification like "Regulatory Affairs Certificate" from RAPS(http://www.raps.org) improve my chances of getting admitted? 3. I am also a marathon runner and have one half marathon and one full marathon to my credit so far. Will that count against my extra curr?
  2. is there any ranking of all(universities anywhere in the world - not only US) the part-time mba programs?
  3. I was asking just because I read this line. The Office of Admissions will determine eligibility on a case-bycase basis by reviewing transcripts and work experience for candidates who do not have the requisite coursework; however, preference is given to those who fulfill the academic eligibility requirements.
  4. 1 yr programme Given the following information in the admission brochure for 1 year mba, my question is: How easy is it to get into 1 year programme without having any of the mentioned 6 courses completed before joining kellogg ? Is there anybody here who has got admitted with none of the prerequisite courses finished prior to joining? All candidates must have graduated within the last seven years and must have completed accounting and at least five of the following six courses: finance, marketing, operations, statistics, economics, and organizational behavior. The seventh course may be completed upon enrollment as a non-credit class, either during the summer quarter or as an additional class during the fall quarter at our downtown Chicago campus through the part-time MBA program. The scheduling of the class will be determined by the Student Affairs Office depending on timing and availability. The Office of Admissions will determine eligibility on a case-bycase basis by reviewing transcripts and work experience for candidates who do not have the requisite coursework; however, preference is given to those who fulfill the academic eligibility requirements.
  5. Usually the schools convert your percentages into GPAs, there is a official organization that does it at a cost. Please refer to the web. which schools are you referring here.. the ones you graduated from OR the ones you are applying for?
  6. thanks mNeo.. i am a dumbo :) rather i am thrashed by the length, breadth and depth of the applications that these b-schools ask for... :( GMAT was far easier..
  7. 113 out of 120 in TOEFL ibt.. is that good enough to apply for top 15 MBA programs ? how can i convert it into the score that is accepted by the schools( i guess on a scale of 300 ? ) i have 720 in GMAT. this is my profile. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/mba-admissions/69331-please-advise-top-10-b-schools.html
  8. Dear Experts, I need your advice on 1. Are any of the top 10 b-schools within my reach? 2. Which sections should my CV contain when I appear for the personal interview with it? 3. Which questions can I anticipate in my interview? 4. Is a part time program from Chicago GSB(or from any top ten school) worth it? Does it do any justice to the efforts that I will put in? 5. How do I get my Indian academic performance converted into GPA? Is any organization/school/university/attorney/notary is designated in US to do that? My profile: Male Indian Single Age: 27 years Currently in US Chicago GMAT (second attempt taken on 21st May 2007) : 720 (96 percentile) Q49(90) and V38(85) and AWA 5.0. first attempt score was 620(taken on 16 April 2007). WorkEx: 6 Years IT experience in a top Indian company which recently grossed 4 billion dollars(half of this experience is a managerial leadership position and recent half is technical leadership position). International WorkEx: 2 years in USA(tech lead position) and 1 month in Germany(due diligence for a new project for my company) Domains worked: E-Commerce, Manufacturing, Telecom, Legal, Investments, Pharmaceuticals(in chronological order with most recent being Pharma). Academics: Highest degree - BE Electrical with First Class Distinction from the best engineering college in my University(a good government recognized and accredited university which is ranked 4th in my state) in India. Essays: I am in the process of writing my essays. Any advice in this regard is welcome. Community Service: I have been working for raising funds through my personal contacts for a non-profit association in India which works for physically challenged persons in the society. Although the funds raised by me were not of great amount I have been doing this since last three years. Apart from this I am not involved in any other community services. Looking for your advice and guidance. I have already applied for wknd program in Chicago GSB. Thanks a lot for your time and concern. Regards, Mars
  9. i quote : "two more questions". :) I had guessed earlier that he is referring to School of Management, but then there are so many which call themselves SOM. For Example: Simmons SOM Boston, Yales SOM, SJM SOM Mumbai etc. I also did not get what he meant by HSW earlier in some other post. Can these shortforms be provided with mouseover help. Afterall, we have that for words like "GMATPrep", "PowerPrep", "OA" etc. Sorry Ilya, for hijacking your thread... I will ask my questions in a new thread henceforth.
  10. after reading this complete thread, I am still wondering what GMATBong meant by "SOM". I m sure he is not referring to "Strength of Material".
  11. Hello David, First of all thanks a lot for advising us on such an important aspect. I wanted to take your advice on 1. Are any of the top 10 b-schools within my reach? 2. Which sections should my CV contain when I appear for the personal interview with it? 3. Which questions can I anticipate in my interview? 4. I have my explanation, but would like to hear from anybody who has already been through this, "how can I explain the switch from IT to Finance" 5. Is a part time program from Chicago GSB(or from any top ten school) worth it? Does it do any justice to the efforts that I will put in? 6. 13. Circle C and line k lie in the xy plane. If circle C is centered at the origin and has radius 1, does line k intersect circle C? 1. The x-intercept of line k is greater than 1. 2. The slope of line k is -1/10. OA is I had chosen
  14. Is SQROOT((x-3)^2) = 3-x ?? A. x is not equal to 3 B. -x*|x| > 0 OA is
  15. I guess it is C. It gives the reason to believe that reopening of earlier cases might prove beneficial for those whose cases get overturned. we need to strengthen the argument. B does not do it. E does it in vague manner - "very difficult" indicates the slight possibility of falsifying or tampering the DNA evidence. Hence E may not even strengthen the argument.
  16. i guess it should be E. Only E can be inferred from statements given. D is tempting but the part "evaluate as having improved sound" is tricky.
  17. imo A "The author passes over the possibility that Professor Smith had much to gain should Professor Smith’s discovery have found general acceptance." This is the flaw in the argument.
  18. thanks asterix i had not thought of this...
  19. attached. OA is highlighted with a square around the answer choice...........
