  1. Congratulations.... All the best for your apps
  2. Thanks!!! Havent decided yet on schools. Some in Europe and some in the US. I am keen on one year pgms... The problem with power prep was that there were some known quetsions and hence was not a good reflection of your standing. Otherwise i think the standard is quite similar.
  3. Hi, I got a score of 4.5. I am a bit shocked for I thought that I wrote my essays well. I wanted to know if such a score will be acceptable. My overall score in GMAT is 710. Thanks
  4. When compared to Gprep I think Quant was tougher and Verbal was simpler in real test.
  5. Congrats and all the best for your apps
  6. Congrats great score....
  7. Hi All, I am disappointed with my score. I did think about a re-take, but decided against it (Newton first law of motion:) ). I thought that Quant was my strength but the exam made me believe otherwise:( . I just got stuck in a couple of questions and this proved costly. One advice which I can give you guys is not to take questions personally :) (I did that). If you can’t crack one, try and make an intelligent guess and move on. For there are very few question which are really tricky and if you can maintain your composure then it’s difficult to get a lot of questions wrong. I lost mine and paid the penalty.:( While taking the exam I thought that I was doing well in my verbal section. Hence the verbal score was a bit of shock. But what I observed was the exam really tests our basics and nothing more. Anyways I would like to thank this forum which I think is really cool. I was more of listener, but this forum really helped me in structuring my thought process. My Mock GMAT scores were: Kaplan1 : 590 ( One and a half month before exam) Kaplan2 : 650 ( One month before) Gmatprep1: 710 ( Two weeks before) Powerprep1: 760 ( Four Days Before) Gmatprep2: 750 ( Two days before) I would like to thank all the members who have contributed to this forum esp. ModusOperandi, Check.Stone, tweety32, Bob and last but definitely not the least Erin. Wishing you all the very best in life.
  8. IMO with Choice A. The use of colon in "B" is incorrect. Further I think "number is greater than..." is correct.
  9. OA is D. What I wanted to know was why we should not use a past perfect form here. We are talking abt an event before a past event which occured 200 years go right???? Any thoughts?
  10. I will try and answer why B is not correct The range currently is in south(The predators are in south too). With temp. rising the bird will expand its reach to north and so will the predators. But the range will also be extended to north similar to what we have at present. Do i make my clear or is the thought process a bit convoluted?
  11. A. In July 2002, scientists announced the discovery of the first living creature on Earth to walk on four legs and which was 350 million years old. D. In July 2002, scientists announced the discovery of the first living creature on Earth which walked on four legs and which was 350 million years old. Comparing A and D, the only difference is "which walked" and "to walk". I feel here "which" referrant is not clear(It is closest to earth, further there is no comma before which.) I feel A is the correct answer. X97agarwal, Could you please post the OA?
  12. B D E In the first question choice D( Jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk produced a body of work that was rooted ) doesnt have necessary comas.
  13. 1. Not until the Enlightenment, some 200 years ago, had society seriously questioned the right of the state that it could execute its citizens. (A) had society seriously questioned the right of the state that it could execute (B) did society seriously questioned the right of the state that it could execute © had society seriously questioned the right of the state for the executing of (D) did society seriously question the right of the state to execute (E) had society seriously questioned whether the state had a right that it could execute Use of Past Perfect or Simple past?
  14. How does to be built changes the meaning? Can you please explain?. Further I think which in the latter part of the sentence is required. Could any one explain why 'which' is not required?
  15. IMO 4! 4 says that she can understand scientific literature (on subjects other than her field) so she can be acquinted with those literature... dont know if her credentials are being questioned here???
  16. (B) one of the countries might not be required to make any changes or take any steps in order to comply with the treaty, whereas all the other countries are so required. As i understand if one country doesnt take any action for it dosnt need to, then it wont send any notifications...and hence the chain will break.. One might say that since result of the action is already achieved and hence that country can send the notification but doesnt that involves a bit of assumptions???Sometimes i really get confused what can be assumed what cannot be!
  17. Emile: Badly chosen words can make even the soundest argument a poor one. After all, many words have social and political connotations that influence people’s response to claims expressed in those words, regardless of how carefully and explicitly those words are defined. Since whether people will acknowledge a fact is affected by how the fact is expressed, the conclusions they actually draw are also affected The argument doesnt say that words can have an affect on the facts but it says that it can affect the conclucion one can draw from it. Hence E. Moreover it doesnt talk about misunderstanding of facts rather it talks about perceptions/conclusions!!!
  18. @sverma, could please ellaborate?
  19. "Rather than" shows preference...Also a preposition like 'at' was required for the sentence to be parallel
  20. Is the "moneyed class" an indefinite singular?
  21. a)Misplaced modifier b)"They" refers to whom? c)Wordy, awkword d)Wordy, awkword e)It can only refer to "Maple Leaf Rag": IMO E
