WB, IMF, etc, jobs -- Importance of location of university

These words are so precise and descriptive to the listener. So much better than a pill is to call someone farbissener. -

econon replied to ivar1951's topic in PhD in Economics
That is why colonialization should continue because it is somehow beneficial. If it continues we take the side of British Rule as economists if not we get Chinese government side. After all who wants to be a Dalit? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalit -

When I read the Jhai's post, I suddenly recall my Indian elit friends argumentation how the social economic order in India is effective:) I think this is not an philosphical issue. You choose your side according to your prospect. If you are likely to get positions in the side of exploting people or already one of those nobody should expect you to be objective. After all, colonialization was benefical ha ha ha:) come on! at least be little bit wise and just dont comment and struggle to get your position in higher caste. Where to work the summer before Grad School
econon replied to JAlfredPrufrock's topic in PhD in Economics
It has been my dream to visit China for long time. I will be attending a summer school in Shandong Province....And, definetely travel to other places in China. -
Hi fellows. In this forum we have many posts regarding to Math courses. Do you thing some people in Economics discipline are failed mathematicians who turned to be schizophrenic after enabling to deal with “real” hard science. And, luckily they found economics as a toy to play with in rest of their life while convincing others about their smartness with complicated math tools. And ask for advance Math course A, B,……X, Y, Z before you even make a comment or application on/to economics (department).

Maybe it is better to go for the place with funding. Paying tution to UVA does not sound good(you need 34.000$ funding a year;you can guess how I know the exact amount) after all you have a fully funded option. I really appreciate if anybody inform us about Virginia Tech's Agri Econ department........

Are international student less likely to recieve funding compared to US students?

From the thread "Economics&Political Science&Sociology Racism or Arrogance; " A very interesting Reply: I got lazy and didn't feel like reading all the responses, though I did see Summers' name thrown around a bit (and since I brought up the first negative comment, I feel slightly responsible). 1) Larry's comment was blown out of proportion, a bit, thougt it was stupid to say. 2) I have known women in the hard sciences who chose to leave. Their reasons mostly centered on the fact that they were sick of being hit on by male professors. Their guess as to why this happened is that there are so few women in the field, and the male profs wanted a chance to get with them (if not them, who else?). Pretty f*cking disgusting, to me, that women are being driven out of the hard sciences by lonely, desparate men who seem to dominate the field, and like to sexually harass their students. (For the purposes of this thread, I think we can safely include economics as a "hard" science.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "desparate men who seem to dominate the field, and like to sexually harass their students." Do you think it usually happens in economics department or does some females use their female charm to get a special treatment?

From the thread "Do you think geting an Econ PhD is a way to prove how smart you are?" A reply: With tongue firmly in cheek, to quote Larry Summers: "In general, economists are smarter than political scientists, and political scientists are smarter than sociologists." ++ From the thread "Economics&Political Science&Sociology Racism or Arrogance" A reply: Not to mention that there is a certain "Economism" among economists that I have not noticed among social scientists in other fields. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is that because Economist think they are smarter than other social scientists?
