  1. You get everything in the Yahoo group gmatnetwork .
  2. Hi , Here are the details of my test and preparation. Firstly I gave my test in Munich , the test center was really out of the city so no traffic noise to disturb you. Also since there were only 2 persons giving the test so not much of disturbance from him also .In fact the only problem I had was that I could not find the School I wanted to apply to (this you have to do before starting the exam), so the admin suggested to carry on with exam and later we filed an "Incident report" with PearsonVUE which has been taken care of today. The test was actually very simple. Now I am a firm believer that any questions ranking is decided on regional bases , so a question will have different weightage in Germany than in India or US depending on how people answer it in that region. A second really important thing to notice is that both I and suithink have got exactly the same Q(50) and V(40) score but my overall score is 750 while his is 740 , so the overall score is also decided based on the region , until unless somebody can come with another valid explanation for this. My timing was really cool , I finished Quant section 10-15 minutes earlier, and guessed in verbal only in the last 2-3 questions( I was always slow on verbal in practice tests also.) The timing model I followed to keep track of progress, suggested by somebody in this forum : Time Left on Screen Question Number answering 75 minutes 1 60 minutes 8 45 minutes 16 30 minutes 24 15 minutes 32 2 minute random tick on all the questions left except last 5 seconds tick on the last question. PREPARATION : In general for preparation my motto was "make no mistakes". I always used to look at each and every mistake I did and what was the cause of it. QUANTATIVE SECTION I will not be able to give much advice to people who are weak in this section , because I had from the beginning no problem in solving any of these questions. The main problem , which I had to overcome in this section was stupid silly mistakes.I would always do the problem but somewhere in equation place a +ve with a -ve or forget that 2 is also prime and my answer would be wrong. So what I did was prepare a list of all the silly mistakes I do and then each time I gave the test I was more careful for those. Some of the Traps I used to fall into : 1) If fn is any function given fn(a,b) can be very different from fn(b,a) 2) Another Trap is not moving the points and lines in a given diagram and assuming that the diagram given is the only possible way. For example in a co-ordinate geometry diagram if they made a point P(x,y) in First quarter as long as it is not given in the verbose that x > 0 and y > 0 . P can lie in any quarter. 3) Probability of OR probability of not of. Here my motto helped a lot as whenever I did a silly mistake I would ask myself "why". What exactly is the part in question which I missed and next time I was careful for that . Beyond this the only section I had problem in was the probability but once I got the Probability solving flowchart it was not a problem.I will see If I can attach it to this thread. VERBAL SECTION I was completely dead in this one. The first time I gave my GMAT I got 27 , and the only things which helped in increasing this to 40 were PRACTICE , OG10/11 , and Manhattan Sentence Correction Strategy Guide. Without Manhattan my score would have been somewhere between 30 and 35. I solved almost all the questions in OG10 and OG11 and the answers I was not satisfied with I searched in this SC forum.I think all the question have been already discussed over here. Also , to understand the meaning of the explanations what is a preposition and what is a proposition I had to download a grammar book from google , the one I found was an old one from William C Fowler "English grammar in its elements and forms" :hmm:Another Important think which I realized was that somedays my performance was really good and some days it was really bad.And since it was waving I was afraid that if I give test on bad day , I will have big problems. The reasons I later realized was , after giving almost 2 to 2.5 hours of exam my brain was really tired to concentrate on those difficult sentences or some passage on women emancipation  and I could not get most of these questions right although when analyzing later the next day it would turn out to be a silly mistake. So as solution I started each day verbal after coming late from office when I was really tired. This helped my tired brain to adjust and I started solving, even though at much slower rate , correctly. PREP MATERIAL REVIEW In order of usability. 1) OG10/OG11 2) GMATPrep Software 3) Manhattan Sentence Correction Strategy Guide:tup: 4) this Forum and gmatnetwork helped me a lot in gathering material. 5) SC1000 (I solved somewhere around 100 questions later started finding questions quite similar and a little confusing) 6) Princeton review Tests (I always scored less in this.Reason questions are not very clear. Practiced Timing and tired state of mind for verbal with these) 7) Princeton review Book DVD edition ( absolutely useless, until unless you are targeting at "average Joe" level) Another advice which somebody else gave in this forum and which definetly helped me is that the morning of exam I solved 5 Quant and 5 verbal questions as warm-up , they really helped in making my brain work at full speed as soon as the test started. So , best of luck to you all.
  3. Hi , Finished the GMAT today in EU Zone. Here is the detailed score V: 40 89 percentile Q: 50 95 percentile Total: 750 - 98 percentile Thanks a lot to all people in this Forum , Especially Erin and his team for starting the forum. Although I never communicated with any of them directly, their previous communications to Ex-Members of forum was sufficient. Will write a detailed mail only if somebody requests it , because I don't think I would be able to add even an iota of new knowledge to this already knowledge overflowing forum. Best of luck to all the others on this forum.
  4. if them is referring to door latches then why does OG says "Choices B and C are additionally faulty because, in omitting the noun doors, they fail both to specify what is being closed and to supply an antecedent for the pronoun them." ????
  5. Hi , Adding one more question for this SC : is usage of them not confusing what is "them" referring to door or door latches ?
  6. Still you can solve it 6 machines in 3 minutes = 270 bottles so 6 machines in 1 minute = 270 / 3 bottles again 1 machine in 1 minute = 270 / (6 *3) 10 machines in 1 minute = 270 * 10 / (6 * 3) 10 machines in 4 minutes = 270 * 10 * 4 / (6 * 3) = 600.
  7. For 2 Reasons : 1) Senior managers do not represent All the managers. 2) "Successful managers do not follow classical rational but intution",this does not imply their success is due to intution. It could be due to other reasons also. On the other hand : "Second, managers rely on intuition to perform well-learned behavior patterns rapidly. This intuition is not arbitrary or irrational, but is based on years of painstaking practice and hands-on experience that build skills. " So , as they performed rapidly , it increased their efficiency.
  8. For 24) E is best because of reason given by chenleo.
  9. I got stumped by this question in OG11 3) Efforts to equalize the funds available to school districts, a major goal of education reformers and many states in the 1970s, has not significantly reduced the gaps existing between the richest and poorest districts. (A) has not significantly reduced the gaps existing (B) has not been significant in reducing the gap that exists © has not made a significant reduction in the gap that exists (D) have not significantly reduced the gap that exists (E) have not been significant in a reduction of the gaps existing OA : My main question is in these cases which is the subject of sentence and which is the modifier clause ? 1) Efforts to equalize the funds 2) a major goal What's the rule , if any, deciding this ?
  10. B , As the missing assumption is the one which caused amount to decrease from 100 to 60.and to which the factor of not developing new strains contributed. e.g. another type of missing assumption could be that " The agricuturable land was reduced around the world but other countries manged to produce the same amount. Here B gives the best reason for the decrease.
  11. The Argument : US must keep "R" consumption Constant as currently "R" is going down too fast. Please read R as Resource. To Strengthen Argument , we will need to provide statement which supports this logic. A) R will increase If R increases and Consumption is Constant then R will not go down too fast thus supporting the argument. But we could also keep consumption rate of R lower than new finding rate and still help thus not providing sufficient support for argument. B) US share of R is 1/3 rest is 2/3. This gives the share among the US and Rest but does not provide any reasoning as to how US keeping R consumption Constant will help in R not going down too fast C) Rest need R more than US. This tells who needs R more but does not provide any logic between US keeping R consumption rate Constant and R going down too fast. D) Rest keep R constant. If the Rest keep R consumption at current level and US keep R consumption at current level then R also keeps going down at current level , thus not supporting the argument. E) R is currently the lowest level for US. If Consumption of R is currently the lowest for US then best US can do to avoid it not going down is keep it at this rate so provides sufficient logic so I think E is best in this case. Any suggestions!
