  1. Hey Verdeamerelo, A good friend of mine is looking for an Intern position. She is a foreign graduate and she lives in Miami Beach. Can I have a phone number, so she may contact your preceptor? I would really appreciate it. She is a Permanent Resident, so she does not need visa sponsorship. Thanks

    naplex exam

khush, No, nothing yet. I do not understand anything right now. Evaluating what???? It is a computer giving out the score. or what?
  3. ooops...yeah you are right 13.6, my bad. But the analysis is the correct one. thanks
  4. 100 cc for a 24 hours infusion seems also very low. I don't think this is a real life question. Where did you get it? If any MD wants to use 100 cc for calories needed in 24 hours the TPN has to be so concentrated that it would be contraindicated for an IV. The recomended total of calories per day is around the 2000 kcal, depending on the condition of the patient you can go a little over to that value.

    naplex result

I'll let you know, keep praying, I am not sleeping well since last monday, I hate to start all over again since I felt very well prepared for this, it just that I didn't expect so many details in this general exam.
  6. D40W is 40 g of dextrose in 100 ml, so 40/100 = x/40 x=16 1g of dextrose = 3.4 kcal 1 g of proteins = 4 kcal 1 g of fats= 9 kcal 1 g of carbo= 4 kcal
  7. you have 40 parts of d40w, 40 parts aa and 20 parts of lipo right? 1 part = 1 ml, and you have d40w, 8.5% aa amd 20% lipo to chose from. Then 40 ml of d40w = 16 g of dextrose x 3.4 kcal= 54.4 kcal 40 ml of 8.5% aa sln = 3.4g proteins x 4 kcal= 54.4 kcal 20 ml of 20% lipo emul.= 4g x 9 kcal = 36 kcal total= 145 kcal

    naplex exam

I took Naplex on 3.8, no news yet but I think I failed it. In this new version I got the fill in the blank questions with no answers to chose from, which is hard because now you have to use your memory really sharply. Mainly in calculations and labs. Also HIV, OT, RA, DM....almost every topic!!! 4 to 5 in stats with tables and p values. I got also questions that go to details in dosis and rate of infusion. I think they are setting the standard a lot higher now for new graduates.
  10. It does matter now, not for NABP but for us. The iBT is a killer, chances are that more than 60% of candidates will never pass it. That 26 in speaking is a big barrier with the only purpose of keeping the number of new certified very low. So, I suggest to try iBT first ,if you get to pass it, go ahead and spend all the money in FPGEE, visa, paper work, transcripts etc..Anyway you have 2 years to report you iBT score once you pass it, which is time enough to do all before mentioned. Truth to be said, I personally know more than 100 candidates stuck with iBT after passing the FPGEE, you can be one more to add to the list that after spend more than 2K to take the FPGEE are not gonna get certified just because of one section of an English exam. It does not make any sence, right?
  11. Hey!!! It is true, go to FPGEC application buletin page 23. It is a possibility that after 2 years of passing FPGEE they request to close your file of they do not hear from you. Do not panic, is just a formality they just want to have in written that your are still in the process. Before closing it they should send a letter to let you know, I guess none of us have received that letter yet, so just send an update asap to FPGEC just in case.
  12. That's right!!! Call ETS and send a letter to NABP. Both institutions should keep being notified everytime something like this happend. We need to make TOEFL iBT for NABP as much as a hurdle as it is for all of us right now. Keep sending letters with your cases to NABP and ETS. Imagine what a nightmare for NABP receiving letters of complaint about TOEFL iBT for the hundred on a daily basis.
  13. Listen everybody, As you all know we have been dealing with this TOEFL iBT ordeal for more than 4 years now. We have been sending letters of complaint to NABP, BBB, Goverment officials, elected officials and even to the media, we already met in person with a top NABP official, and we have never been this close to get a solution from NABP. This is the first time since I first started to work on this that NABP is going to address directly and in a separate meeting the issue of TOEFL iBT. The problems with the test are real and as real they are NABP shall have to modify the requirements in a way or another. As customers of FPGEC we all are, we already made our point, we have presented our concerns, we have sent proof of real problems from real test takers, NABP have collected from us all the data that prove this test abusive and unfair. NABP also have the statistics that show that the 26 in the speaking section is almost an imposible mark even for native speakers. In conclusion NABP have all the information they need to make a desicion. Please stop negative posting, lets wait for NABP final desicion, this is the way things works in this country, lets go with that flow and not against it, otherwise we are going to regret it. In our desparate attempts to pull more people into this somebody looked for wrong forums to post our claims setting the alarm for the radicals who oppose such rightful claims. There is a posibility that those oppositors are already writing letters to NABP, and guess what? Who lose? We lose, we are the weak side of the rope. Wisdom is the key to succes in this ordeal. That move sombody made in other forum was not a wise move, and we all are problably pay for it. I understand our frustration, but we need to keep the calm and think twice before any action. This is going to be my last posting before Oct 28, because I believe we have done everything that is wise from our side to take NABP to address the issue directly with all the data available to them and us. good luck and god bless,

  15. Guys, The forthcoming meeting of the Task Force is going to be one of the few, or probably the only one, occasion in which NABP is going to address this problem of the TOEFL iBT. With that said it is more than obvious that right now there is no room for digression. Let's put all differences aside and act like we all are: skilled proffesional pharmacist being banned from serving in this country just because of an extremely contradictory section of a Language test. Please show your support by sending your letters to NABP. I already sent Gidey's letter and I am waiting for knok's to do the same. I hope all of you victims make your voice heard now. It is now or never this time. Let's show NABP that we are not just a bunch of frustrated candidates as they said. emac
  16. guys, As any other Institution in this country NABP is going to do nothing until they feel a sence of urgency on this matter. In order for they to feel it, we need to make of this a public concern. How we can do it? Addressing the media and Civil Rights Institutions. They need to realize that this is Civil Right case, minorities living in this country being pushed through unfair and discriminatory requirements. They can say whatever they want to say but facts are stronger than words. If the statistics keep telling that the average native speaker only gets 23 and average american gets only 22, this is a Civil Right issue when NABP is setting a passing score in 26. This is madness. We need to star looking for Civil Rights advocates to help us to reach a reasonable requirement with NABP. NABP's panel of experts set the standars in a very superficial manner, they needed to wait 2 or 3 years before setting the standar so high. The new TOEFL iBT was not even yet in the market when the passing scores were already set. Based on what??? emac

  19. gideyam and others, I think what we should do to make it count this time is to send copy of every letter or email to the journalist in Medscape who is following our case directly with NABP. As I have been reading, NABP replied to Medscape that we were just a few in this situation. So let's make it count now and send copies to Medscape. Look at the number of viewers of this thread alone, 1136!!! as today. That's not a few. Gideyam please post the name of the journalist at Medscape and his email so we can send the copies. thanks, emac

We are so many right now in the same situation that if we stand together we would probably make the biggest scandal that ETS have faced ever. But, we as humble as we are, keep trusting in the honesty of NABP officials to bring back justice and fairness to FPGEC program. Before iBT the biggest obstacle in this running for FPGEC was the FPGEE, which is really proof our pharmacy background and the equivalency. Now is a shame that the biggest problem is a test of mere "English proficiency", or just the speaking section of that test. Think about it. NABP, just one section of one test is affecting the lives and the families of thousands of FP that the only thing they are pursuing is to practice the profession they love in this country, for the good of this nation. Stop blaming public safety, here where I live must of the foreign graduates that are licensed took advantage of a requirement of 45 in the old TSE. They do not speak perfect English, but they have proven how good they are providing the service and keeping American pharmacies open 24 hours. The proof is here in FL, also in Michigan, two states that before iBT never asked for 50 in TSE and never have a case as a result. I am sure that if those pharmacists already working for CVS or Walgreens are asked to take iBT they won't pass. What really matter is your pharmacy knowledge, NABP should never put the standard so high in an English test. I am a permanent resident and I do not have other place to go but to stay and live here, but I swear that if I become citizen, which I am very closed to, and still fighting with this unfair and discriminatory requirement, I am going to take this to every civil right court in US until I find justice. That's another point that we can forward to NABP. -

Knok, go to page 350 of Official Guide and you will read that the number of panelists that set the scores comparisons and make the cuts in 23 for acceptable and 26 as equivalent to 50 in TSE is only 18. More over the sample they took from the bulk of test takers is only 2,720 and that was back in 2004. This new iBT started wrong since day one, and we are all paying for it.

That's because ETS suggested NABP to do that based in the fact that reports by section is not allowed. I am sure if ETS allow what I just suggested, NABP will approve it. We all have a profile with ETS right? So, if they approve it, we just need to choose what scores to report. In this case is better that a candidate wait to have the 4 passing scores ready before he/she sends the whole report to NABP. got it? emac

guys, I just sent a letter to ETS with the suggestion that they should allow to take and report each section separately. It is a rip off every time we get passing scores in all setions but speaking. It is a waste of money and time. Please, help me and send letters too. thanks, emac
  24. Hey guys!!! All of you being stranded with iBT (26), please be informed that NABP is having two days of work to review this requirement on October. This is the best opportunity we have to send all our concerns about this test to NABP before that meeting. I already did last year, but NABP keep saying that the iBT is OK and that we are just a few in this situation. Please make your voice heard and each of you send letters, no matter how short or large your letter can be but please make it count. Thanks, emac
