  1. The reason I make a new topic for such score is that i want to give hope to people who gave up the test before it ended. First of all guys i had a terrible experience ot test day.1 I had some healthy problems.Did in reading 28 however despite some lack of concentration. In listening where I expected 30 i did 26 just because the ***** guy next to me was screaming in the damn microphone.I had to completely guess on some of the questions. Then i entered the speaking section devastated.I had really given up.However despite the bad attitude i made the first queistion fine. The second however was a disaster.I left about 30 seconds empty record.I completely fell here.In the other questions i missed information left again a lot of empty record and received the unbelievably high 20.The reasons for that are probably because i speak english well.I have no accent,no speaking questions as a whole. In wtiring i received 24.I did the integrated very good, the independent however was middle business. It differed much from the practice essays i did at home.Well this is because my lowered esteem and the stupid(for me) topic. Overall this test was a complete disaster for me especially the speaking section. However i still managed to do 98 while i expected 50 or 60. It`s not such a good score(compared to my SAT score-2120) but this score is enough for me.I don`t care about the speaking.I know its bad but i won`t rescore. My speaking is good and i explained above the reasons for my score. So what i wanted to say is the following. The TOEFL test is not as hard as most of the people think it is.(especially for people who already took SAT or GMAT).I thought it had higher requierments and with my bad performance i still reached 98.So people if you think you have done a section bad on the TOEFL DO NOT GIVE UP everything you might have lost is a couple of points. The TOEFL test is not as demanding as you think it is.So if you do bad on a section.Do not give up.Do not let the negative thoughts conquer you.Just keep going.

    Reading practice

Guys i want to ask is there anyone who has internet prep. books for TOEFL?I have made all my reading practices in Barron`s book and the ones i found online.I need additional reading practice but i have finished all the practice I got.The other sections are easy to practice but for the reading i need additional material.Does anyone have any ebooks with reading practice for the TOEFL?
  3. Hi,i don`t know why do you think that since you have a high TOEFL score you will have a high SAT score. Those tests are a lot different.TOEFL is only an english exam while SAT tests your thinking ability. However i think that this site was very helpful for me SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides .You need a lot of strategies and a lot of time to practice to improve.Make as much practice tests as possible. And you must improve your vocabulary. You need to know a lot more words for the SAT then for the TOEFL. For the reading.I think nothing but practice can help you there.Practice to read a lot.... For the Math learn all basics. All formulas everything you need. For the Writing.Well practice writing essays in timed conditions.Learn the grammar perfectly and you won`t have problems. By the way this is a very good site ePrep: Online SAT and PSAT Preparation for SAT.It gives you one free practice test and video explanations to all questions. It is very helpful. The most important thing you have to remember is to control yourself.Don`t panic, act normal on the exam day.And learn strategies as much as you can.And use them all.The site i gave above sparknotes is very good about that.Be sure to read everything.
  4. By the way i have a question. Is it possible the guy near me to have received extra listening, because i received extra reading and the listening is a lot more faster to finish then the reading.
  5. Hi Moones don`t worry man you are not the only one with AWFUL experience.I had a bad day too.Well i got on time, but i don`t know what happened.I had huge lack of concentration on the reading. The first passage was bad.Probably 3 or 4 unsure answers. However on the others a managed to develop some rhytm and despite the fact am not very happy with the reading it is satisfactory compared to other sections.Despite i got on time i was behind the man sitting right next to me...I went in the Listening with huge expectations. This was my strongest section.I expected perfect or near perfect score. But while i finished my first conversation the guy next to me started speaking.God damn it.That guy was screaming in that microphone.I couldnt here anything from my listening. There were questions where i had simply to guess, because i have never heard about that information. After the listening i really got mad and sad at the same time.I completely lost concentration.Developed negative attitude and speaking section was horrible experience.I made the first question good, but i completely blocked on the second one.Said 2 sentences maybe and let an empty record about 30 seconds. This was the moment i gave up on that test.I dont remember how i made the questions but i remember that i missed important information in the listening. In the 5-th question.Probably the most important i didnt heard the first solutition the man provided and spoke only about the second. On the writing am a bit satisfied with the integrated essay but am not sure about the independent. It was kind of..didn`t had flow of ideas i thing.Pff don`t know i will see. I expect not more then 70 or even 60.Really really horrible.I gave up too early. But that was because I went for the exam with really big expectations.I wanted in the worst case 100 that is i thought i won`t have under 25 on all sections.But...things went wrong....grr the first 2 days after the exam I was really mad. I will wait for my scores, however and rescore. The second time is my last chance.Damn it the pressure would be even bigger.
  6. Hey guys am taking the test in Saturday but I`m a bit worried about the Reading Section.I have observed a huge difference in a the Reading section when I take it on computer and when i take it on paper.I mean it is way easier to concentrate for the reading when your head is down looking at the paper. You can relax a lot more then sitting uncomfortable in the chair looking at the computer screen. What should I do? I think that Reading on ibt is unfair.I mean all other sections are good to be on computer. On listening for example i take notes and develop high level of concentration. But this is because am llooking down at my paper don`t have to observe the screen. And the Writing i think its easier for me to write essays on computer then on paper. It`s just you can think more clearly that way but the things are not the same with the Reading. The minimum i can get on Reading section is 25 and I`m concerned today i made 8 mistakes on the computer while on Barron`s book i often make no mistakes. So it got a bit long but my question is how can i develop concentration for the Reading section? Moreover this is the begging of the exam and you need time to adjust yourself.........
  7. Well most of the time the word you have to put is a synonim of the word you were asked to replace.Sorry i think those questions require only vocabulary. However probably 2 of the choices will have an absurd meaning in context so you just have to rely on common sense. But vocabulary is very important.
  8. Hi guys First congratulations for your scores but i have one question. How are the reading and listening sections scored. Is there any scale? Can someone explain me?Thank you
  9. Hi guys am also taking the test on 12 january in Bulgaria.

    I need help

I think we dont have the required amount of post to be able to download from the site. That`s stupid :(:hmm:
  12. Ok but since Barron`s book integrated writing is bunch of crap how should I synthesize the reading with the lecture.Thats what i asked. Can someone give me an example how to integrate both sources.First i write about the reading, explane what is it about and then in a new paragraph I state the points in the lecture?....how should I combine them in my essay?Thats what I asked an example pattern of the writing of the essay.
  13. Hi Thanks for your responses. So as far as i understood in integrated writing the lecture ALWAYS contradicts the reading and there are ALWAYS 3 key points in reading that are contradicted with the listening.Am I right? If thats the case can you guys post some example pattern for writing the integrated essay.Thank you in advance.
  14. Hi Corey I don`t think you have to make from the TOEFL such a big deal.I know it musn`t be underestimated but I as an international student who has already tkaen SAT(2120) don`t think TOEFL is that hard.I mean you shouldnt stress so much on it...however I wont underestimate it and will do the best I can.I need a score of 100+.I have the Barron`s book and since u have worked with it can you tell me the pluses and minuses of the book.Cause this is the book i will use i won`t buy other. So first is the Reading as hard as the real TOEFl. Second i heard that Barron`s listening was harder than the real test(faster speaking) And last how much does the Barron`s book reflects the real examination. I will be thankful if you respond.
  15. Hey man. Congratulations first. But i want to ask can you give me any audio example of the type of speaking that is required for a score of 26+.
  16. Hey man I`d like to ask you what`s your opinion about Barron`s book?If you have any experience with it.
  17. Hey can someone give me an example of the sort of speaking that requires score of 26+.
  18. Hi I have one stupid question but i just cant understand. Now while you are listening do you see in front of you the questions typed that you have to answer.I mean do the question appear during your listening section or after the listening is over.I have the same question for the reading.I know its stupid but.........
  19. Guys your problem is not the way you speak but the organization of your thought during those 15 sec.I dont speak good enough yet.Actually I speak but i dont do well on the speaking section since there are questions which i cannot answer for 45sec even without time given......just everyhing is practice.Practice those 15 sec.I will also do that.
  20. Guys as far as i understand Barron`s(listening) is harder than the real TOEFL is that true?
  21. Everybody who is taking the test on 17-th august... READ THIS BOOK http://www.jogena.com/resources/concentration.pdf The power of concentration-Theron Q.Dumont
  22. Hi All First, Kunalguha Congratulations, thats a great score. I read the whole topic but i didnt see anyone mansion Barron`s ibt book 2006-2007 edition which i took from a friend.Thats the source of my preparation.Does anyone who took the test was using that book. And is it good. And is the level of the CD`s good enough? Also i want to ask is there someone who took the test without taking notes anywhere?I have a friend who took the TOEFL and scored 100 without taking notes anywhere.Even in the integrated essay. He is not a native speaker. He said that it was more comfortable for him wihtout notes but it depends from the man.So anyone here with a high score without using notes? Oh and i have one silly question. On the TOEFL do you see all the questions from any reading passage or a lecture or do they come one by one?
