  1. I scored 690 on my first attempt. I took 2 months between my two attempts
  2. I prepared my own template and just practiced 5-6 essays. I did not find this section difficult. If you are good at verbal then this section shouldnt bother you much. But it is important to prepare a template.Dont copy anyone's template. Prepare your own. HTH
  3. This is very true. Even if you belong to Indian-IT-Male group, 680 score shouldnt stop you from getting admitted to a top B School. Retake_Gmat has said it beautifully, "SELL" your profile ...thats where mgmt comes into picture. See how you can highlight your plus points in your apps. BTW, B schools dont look at the quantity ...what is the point in having 5 years of experience with no growth at all. If you have done something really significant in these 2 years then that should bail you out of the situation. Get good recos, write essays nicely....and as retake_gmat said..SELL your profile nicely..GMAT is just another criteria... Good luck
  4. well yeah!Thats true! going by this..perhaps you could say that you won couple of gold medals in Beijing Olympics :-)
  5. No. If you have already selected the answer and time runs out. That particular answer is considered and submitted. PS: this was given in Kaplan Book.

  7. For AWA, i did not use any material. I prepared my own template and just stuck to it. I would advise you to do the same. Just check out few templates from AWA section. You can also find few templates in PR book. But it is not good to just blindly copy those. I have heard that Arco Essay book is good. You can try it out.
  8. i had bookmarked this page too. check it out. Towson University’s Online Writing Support
  9. extra-curricular activity could be anything.community service can be extra curricular activity. If you are good at music then having a band and participating in few mini-concerts in local clubs can also be an extra-curricular activity. So it depends on you. Again, dont write what ad com people want to see in your profile. Be honest and and project what you really are.
  10. i dont think your profile is ordinary. You have good number of years of experience. Your GMAT score is also good enough for ISB. Your experience should offset 600 score. If you can present yourself well then you are in.
  11. Definitely!8-10 wrong answers will surely hurt your score Regarding GMATprep,i didn't care much about all these things. As i said earlier, i concentrated more on the ERROR which i committed rather than on number of errors. All i would say is, give your best to all the questions. Not just at the start of the exam. Try improving your accuracy in both the sections. But if you are running out of time then try getting 33-34 verbal questions correct. A good quant score should offset a bad verbal score.
  12. It is very difficult to predict your scaled score from a paper based test. It all depends on number of difficult questions you have faced and most importantly number of difficult questions you answered correctly. If you have have got many questions wrong between 1-20 then your scaled score will be less. But again, it is very difficult to understand their scoring algorithm. Coming to the paper based tests, don't even bother to calculate the score. Even if you have got only 5 wrong in verbal section. Check why you have got those wrong. And try not to repeat those mistakes again. Good luck
  13. Yes definitely!Material from ETS are usually correct. That is the reason i used to rely so much on GMATprep . Apart from this, i solved all paper based tests. Though i really didn't understand the marking system. But it gives you good practice. And as i keep saying, if you have any doubt, you can always come back to TM and discuss it with other TMians. Coming to SETs,when i solved those tests i found lot of mistakes but i hardly found any in ETS paper based tests.
  14. Try to solve SETs 21-30. It doesn't matter whether your answers don't match the given answers. Know how to solve the given problems. Thats more than enough. If you are still not comfortable with it , then just ignore it. Concentrate on CATs instead. Good luck
