  1. I would like to know if the Board of Pharmacy still sends study materials (Orange book) to applicants. I just called them and I was told they no longer do this. Now I don't know where to get review material for state pharmacy law.
  2. Hi Gloria8! May I know which study material you are using to study MI state pharmacy law? The Board of Pharmacy did not send me any. Thanks!
  3. Hi everyone! I just finished my internship. My question is this: How do I start registering for the board exam? Do I need to submit my pharmacist license application first then register for the NAPLEX/MPJE? What should I do with my internship affidavit? Should I send it to the Board of Pharmacy or to NABP? Please help me. I am very confused, I don't know where to start.
  4. Has anyone had any luck finding internship position? I only tried applying at an independent pharmacy and unfortunately I was turned down. Has anyone tried applying at pharmacies in supermarkets like Kroger? May I know how you did it? Whom did you talk to?
  5. Congratulations nvboy and fpgeepharma! My heart was pounding hard as I checked NABP website and there popped my name. I am ecstatic, I feel like I'm in cloud nine. I've been waiting for this time to come. Praise God. fpgeepharma - Do you have any idea which books to study for the NAPLEX and MPJE? I am totally clueless about the two remaining exams we need to take. rosyria - I read APhA, Shargel, Morris Cody, and Appleton and Lange books.
  6. I'm in MI. I intend to submit my application to two hospitals where my partner works at. There is also one independent pharmacy here whose owner is a friend of my churchmate so I might also try my luck there. Chain pharmacies are last on my list because I know they are not too keen on accepting foreign pharmacy graduate as interns. Right now I'm gathering review materials for NAPLEX and probably start reviewing for the exam. How about you? How's it going on your end?
  7. Hi nvboy! I just called NABP customer service earlier. The woman I spoke to told me that my application went to final review mid-December and all I have to do is wait for 8-10 weeks. This waiting game is killing me.
  8. Hi nvboy! NABP received my TOEFL-iBT score last Nov. 17 and I have not received my certificate yet. I called them 3 weeks ago and the customer service representative told me to wait for 8-10 weeks. Have you gotten your certificate?
  9. Thanks for all your congratulatory messages. fpgeepharma - It's great news indeed! It came at the time when I was about to give up pursuing FPGEC certification because of the new policy. Now all I need to worry about is where I could get my internship done. Hi Crystalrose! What I usually do in the first writing task is to state the lecturer's opinion in the first paragraph. In the second paragraph, I write down the first point written in the passage and say that the lecturer contradicts it followed by the reasons he/she gives. The third paragraph contains the second point in the passage and so on. In my notes, I make two columns in the scratch paper and write down numbers 1 to 3-- one column is for the points made in the passage and the other is for the points made by the lecturer. Just always make sure you correlate what the lecturer said to what was written in the passage. For the second task, I write my opinion in the first paragraph. I write my reasons for holding that opinion in the succeeding paragraphs accompanied by examples. Then I write a conclusion in the last paragraph. With this type of essay, I think the key is to let ideas flow freely since there is no right or wrong answer. Providing examples will really help. It doesn't matter if the examples are hypothetical or from your own experiences/observations. I hope this could help you get the score you need in writing. Good Luck.
  10. I took TOEFL-ibt last October 22nd and just viewed my scores online. I was hesitant to check out my scores at first because I am not ready to receive another bad news this week (the first one was the new FPGEC policy). I don't have any problems in any section of the test except in the speaking part to which I always get 23 or 24 (I need 26 by the way). However, this time I was so thrilled to find out that after 14 attempts for the past four years I finally got the elusive score of 26 in speaking. My scores are R-27 L-23 S-26 W-30. I guess how I prepared for my last test made the difference. I heard a lot of good things about Notefulldotcom so I decided to check out Mr. Joseph's videos. I took notes on how each question should be answered. I also found another site in youtube (ouliogroove) which contains quite a number of sample questions. My speaking practice was based on that site. I timed and recorded my responses over and over until I was satisfied with the content of my answer and the clarity of my voice. It will also help to write down the "answer pattern" in the speaking part on your scratch paper before starting the reading part. e.g. Question 1. In my view _____________ for a few reasons. First, _______________. Second, ___________. That way, all you need to do is fill out the blanks, read what is written, and save yourself from thinking what you should say next. Now let me take this opportunity to thank Mr. Joseph for selflessly posting his video tutorials in order to help those who are struggling to get 26 in speaking. I also thank all the test takers who have passed TOEFL-ibt for their encouraging words. All of you have become my source of inspiration. Because of you, I did not give up and I continue to hope that one day I, too, will pass TOEFL. That day has come and I am so happy I will be able to continue my journey as a pharmacist very soon. Best of luck to all test takers. God is great!!
  11. Hi Libau! Just write a letter addressed to NABP explaining your present condition, request that your file be kept open and let them know you plan to complete the requirements for FPGEC Certification once you are in good shape. If you want to be sure they received your letter, call them a few weeks after you have mailed the letter. God bless!
  12. The results are in. My scores are as follows: R - 28 L - 27 S - 24 (need 26) W - 28 Now I am confused if I should go for a rescoring or not. Maybe I will try my luck at rescoring. It will be harder for me to sit for another TOEFL-iBT now that I am on my first trimester.
  13. kemo202 - Didn't the facilitators ask why you're not holding an Australian passport when you presented your ID at the test center? I'm just curious.
  14. I got these for the writing tasks: 1. A passage saying that Shakespeare was not the one who wrote his plays. The three points given in the passage were contradicted by the lecture. 2. Do you believe that children should spend their time studying or playing and should not be asked to help in doing household chores.
