Can anyone tell me the important of GRE verbal in admission of a non-native, for PhD in engineering? My friend said that in the field of engineering ( or some field not linguistic,literature ...) a non-native just need high score in Quant,and Verbal 300-400 is enough :rolleyes: , the Admission Committee don't care about Verbal? Further more,can anyone tell me why American (that are pragmatic) require the GRE ( study the words list and a high school math?? :crazy: )

Thank you all for your helps! I plan to pursue PhD ( or MS, if I can get ) in the field of Power electronic,or motion control :grad:. Top schools or not-- is not really important for me :( Can anyone tell me which score is good? For ranked 1->30 ?? 30--> 50 ?? 50-->> 100.....
