SP_PHARM, I borrowed the Lexis Nexis TX Law book from the pharmacy that i work at. Is it easy to study from? I was thinking of buying the TX law book that the Texas Pharmacy Association publishes. Have you taken a look at both books?
  2. Nini, Mine took just 1 day. I went to the TSBP in person since I got my FPGEC certificate on the 30th of March. I started my internship on the 1st of April.
  3. Bond1430, HEB actively hires interns. You will need to contact the HEB that you are interested in working at.
  4. SP_PHARM, I have a greencard and did not need any sponsorship. I don't think HEB will sponsor anyone for an H1.
  5. Celestine, I believe I have answered your question about the 3 month period over the phone. Let me know if not.....
  6. Walgreens is doing the same thing in TX. The only locations that they offer internships are the ones that are out of town i.e. where they determine that they have demand. They do not let you train at the location that is close or somewhere close to where you live i.e. they want you to relocate as well (which for some of us is not an option). If you choose to relocate, they do pay full "intern" pay (which is quite nice). I live in Austin, TX and the only Walgreen that are available to me are a 3-5 hour drive from Austin and i am not willing to relocate.
  7. Mimimj, I would absolutely recommend that you do the internship. I am a Pharmacist Intern right now and am able to take transfers, give transfers, take call-in prescriptions, check the voicemail for new prescriptions, counsel etc. It is really nice to be finally doing the work of a pharmacist.
  8. Fpgec2005, You will receive an ATT (Authorization to test) letter from the NABP after the Texas State Board has approved your application. The Extended Intern process is a completely separate process. You can apply for the NAPLEX/MPJE and apply to be an Extended Intern at the same time.
  9. Temp, I don't know how long it took for the NABP to receive my TOEFL iBT score. I did not check on that. It takes about 2-21/2 months (from the date that you take the TOEFL) to receive your FPGEC certificate in the mail. I took my FPGEE in Dec 2008, my TOEFL iBT on Jan 17, 2009 and received my FPGEC certificate on March 30th
  10. Sagardip, Nestt is right...the only way you can get a SSN is if you are legally employed in the states or have some other legal visa status. It is just a matter of paperwork after that.
  11. Libau, yes! I am thrilled! I mean that you have only 3 months IMMEDIATELY after the date on your FPGEE certificate to do your internship before you have to take and pass the NAPLEX/MPJE. The rules are posted on the Texas State Board of Pharmacy website. So you have to be ready with everything before you get your FPGEE certificate. My certificate was dated March 26th (and I received it on March 30th) so I get April, May and June to do my internship before I HAVE to take and pass the NAPLEX/MPJE. If not, you have to take a break, pass the exams and then continue the internship. Hope this makes it clear. Sagardip, You will need a SSN before you can apply to the TSBP for an internship. The 4 documents that I submitted were my TX Driver's License, Greencard, SSN card and a copy of my FPGEE certificate. Hope this makes it clear.
  12. Lisa Ake is the person incharge of Interns/Internship status for the TSBP
  13. For all those who are/will be applying to Texas for their internship, I have to tell you how easy it was to register as an Extended Intern with the Texas State Board. I went downtown to the Texas State Board and Lisa processed my application right away. I will be an intern with HEB Pharmacy starting tomorrow. Just have your job lined up and all your paperwork ready before you get your FPGEE certificate and get it to Lisa as soon as possible. Hope this helps everyone who is applying to Texas. Also, don't forget to apply to take the NAPLEX as soon as you are done with your TOEFL because it takes her 8-10 weeks to process that application.

  15. I just got the certificate in the mail yesterday. I took the TOEFL on the 17th of January so I guess it takes around 2 1/2 months to get the certificate provided there are no issues with your file.
